Happy New Year! Since this article is being written early in
December, the only thing we know for sure about the courts is that
the improvements have been approved by the Board and work on
them should begin shortly. As you read this, you probably now
know more than this. It's quite an extensive overhaul, involving
removing sideboards, carpet and concrete, digging the courts
deeper and possibly repairing sidewalks. It is estimated that the
work will take about three weeks. We are assuming that the Winter
Tournament will begin as scheduled. Entries must be in by Jan. 5,
play beginning Jan. 15. As usual, winter play times are 1, 2, and 3
pm, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
Club dues are again due, $12 pp. Additionally, a new entry
card must be filled out for the new year. They can be found in the
bocce cabinet on the top shelf. If you are signing up a team, put
completed entry card, plus dues and team fees $3 pp — a grand
total of $15 per team member or $60 all together — in an envelope
and deliver it to 1288 Pleasant Valley. There is a box at the door.
Small problem — as of now it is our understanding that the
cabinet will have to be moved but we don't know where it will be.
Hopefully it will be around the courts somewhere. In the event
that it is removed all together, you can get a card from Dutch at 588
