| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2018 | 55 Men's Golf From George Moyer, President, SLMGC I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy and safe holiday season. I hope your holidays were great. Have you renewed your club membership for 2018? Now is the time to do it. Long-time members who feel they do not want to compete in tournaments anymore but want to be part of the club, do not forget that we offer Associate Memberships at a reduced rate. In this way you can remain in touch with all your friends and enjoy our social activities. Old friends are always welcome. For the rest of you, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? The 2018 tournament schedule has been finalized and includes all your favorites and a few surprises. It offers something for everyone's taste. In addition, we are continuing the second Wednesday Club Shotguns, sometimes with food and drink afterwards. Last month finishes 2017. There are too many people to individually thank here for their help, support, and dedication this past year. Without all of their hard work and diligence we would not have a club. Of course there is the Men's Club Board who give much of their time addressing the needs of the club, scheduling and running events, and dealing with member's concerns. Also, there is Al and the Pro Shop Staff who work with us to see that our events go off with a minimum of trouble, advise us on key issues, and are always there to assist us when asked. In addition, there are countless members who step up every time we ask for help: members who come to the tournament planning meeting to offer their suggestions; members who speak out at our quarterly meetings voicing their opinions on how we can improve our club; volunteers that make sure you are checked in for tournaments, and those that make sure food and drinks are on time and where they should be. I hope you understand that even though there are too many to recognize in this article, we know who you are and how you are all very much appreciated. So goodbye to 2017 and hello to 2018 (they sure go by fast at our age don't they?) Executive Men's Golf Friday morning golf with the Executive Men's Golf Club is challenging and fun. The 3000-yard Executive Course consists of 18 challenging holes requiring shots over ravines and water. The course has six par 3s and three par 4s on each nine playing to a par 60 total. With a total of twelve par 3s there are plenty of opportunities to score a Hole-in-One. The EMGC meets every Friday morning at 8:30 am at the North Clubhouse for a 9 am tee time. Every week you can enter to win $ for closest to the pin. Throughout 2018 we have monthly tournaments on the third Friday of the month followed by a luncheon. Tournament winners have $ credited to their accounts that can be used at the Pro Shop or Restaurant/Lounge. Returning 2017 members are reminded that they must renew their membership for 2018 to be eligible to participate in organized EMGC Friday activities. Membership forms are available in the North Clubhouse Pro Shop or the EMGC website which you can connect through the Sun Lakes website at www.sunlakescc.com. We are open to all male Sun Lakes residents interested in golf, fun and camaraderie. So come out and join us; we would like to have you as a member.
