SLCC Golf & Pro Shop News By Al Vallecorsa, PGA Director of Golf TIPS FROM THE START: EVERY PUTT ON THE RIGHT LINE. It can be awfully frustrating when you read a putt perfectly, give it a confident rap, only to see it roll nowhere on the line you picked. This is a case of the putter face not square to your intended line when you hit the ball. Face alignment is the biggest influencer of direction. The trick is to set the face accurately and then return it at impact to the same position. During the stroke one of two things goes wrong. Some golfers tend to flip the right wrist at impact, which over-accelerates the putter head and closes the face (causing the ball to go left). Others shove the left hand to the target on the forward stroke which over accelerates the handle and leaves the face open (those putts miss right). Instead match the acceleration of your hands and the putter head. Do that and you will like what you see when you look up. GOLF RULE OF THE MONTH #4: Golf carts must stay on the cart path around tees and greens, practice areas and on all par 3 golf holes unless the 90-degree rule is posted. AS A REMINDER: Both pro shops will be closed Feb. 28 at 1:30 pm for inventory. PASS PUTTERS: The next few Pass Putters events are Fridays, Feb. 9 and March 9 at 2 pm.
