10 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | FEBRUARY 2018 | Four Seasons residents have done it again! We asked and you responded by filling up the Library with new books. Today I put several 2017 paperback books away and three hard bound books. Thank you so much. This does provide a challenge. We need to make room for all the newer paperback books. We will be fine with the hard bound books but the paperback books need some new guidelines. I think the committee will be deciding to change the display date. At this month's business meeting we'll tackle the situation. But, don't stop now, keep those 2017 books coming. While taking down the holiday decorations many of us decide to "clean house." Organize the garage and the closets. We have taken tons of 1970-1980s books to the downtown library. They appreciate our support so much but if you have not visited that beautiful library this is the perfect time to visit. You will be very impressed with the different things available for your use. And check out the book store. You can't resist buying a new book for one third the price. We can only shelve the years 2013 to 2017 in paperbacks. Today while working there I had to laugh at the books slipped in that were very old. Our magazine rack could use some help. We now display four months, so bring November, December, January and February magazines for our rack. It will be over-flowing one day and we return the next day to an almost empty rack. Please only borrow a couple at a time and then bring them back. We now have one of the best non-fiction book sections in Four Seasons library history! We have biographies, bibliographies, comedies, tragedies, and other true stories. They are all located on the very top shelf and for many of us require assistance. Do not stand on anything to reach them. Please go to the front desk for help. There is an easy reach located on the outside wall but it is okay to ask them for help. In the center section, bottom shelves, you will find religious books, travel books, classics and then a miscellaneous section that house some health books, poetry, and self-improvement books. Do peruse the shelves occasionally. We wish we had tons of space to house all subjects but that is what the downtown library is for. Don't forget our audio books. They are housed in the lower left hand double doors and we have a great selection at this time. From Blair: "Book lovers never go to bed alone." Committee member Bernadette Koretke reviewed The Bat (paperback) by Jo Nesbo: Like Leif Erikson, Scandinavian crime novel authors are discovering America (to our delight). The first novel written by author, Jo Nesbo, The Bat, Harry Hole, a brilliant young detective in the Oslo police department, is sent to Australia to observe a murder case of a young Norwegian woman who had been living there. Together with a Sydney detective he discovers the dead woman was only the latest victim in a string of unsolved murders. It is a fantastic young Harry we meet in The Bat, warts and all. Until next month… ~ Cookie Library Committee
