20 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | FEBRUARY 2018 | And away we go into 2018! "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Our service to the community will continue much as last year although we will be tweaking here and there. Change is always in the offing and we contemplate even more streamlining as we see a need for it. It is such a privilege to serve this wonderful Four Seasons community. In case you need a reminder, we offer some information below: Please contact Trish Moorhouse if you know of someone who is ill, had surgery, or just needs a welcome voice on the phone or a "thinking of you" card. It's easy – Trish can be reached at (909) 844- 3852. She will contact her team members to send the appropriate card. This information is also passed to a "calling team." They will initiate a call as follow-up. Thanks for helping us connect. Please contact LaDean Hatcher who chairs our Kindness Recognition effort. LaDean can be contacted at 677-7166 or email her at laddeepoo3@yahoo.com. It's easy to nominate someone for a Kindness Award. Simply stop by the Lodge front desk and ask for a Kindness Nomination Card. Complete the card and return it to the attendant. A member of Team Sunshine will retrieve the card and follow up with you to complete the award process. Please fill out a NEEDS Form at the Lodge front desk if you know of someone who has recently lost a loved one. This form can also be used for various kinds of needs assistance. In case you prefer not to call but would like us to know of a need, this form will record your concern and will be passed on to the appropriate Team Sunshiner. Celebrations of Life: Again, we have no celebrations of life to report. We are saddened by the loss of one of our long-time residents, Bob Craun. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Paddy and her family. Paddy and Bob were active members of this community. Paddy served on the Social Committee for many years. There may be others in the community who are mourning the loss of a loved one. We extend our condolences to these families as well. Programs: The 90+ Birthday Party was an outstanding celebration as usual. The 90+ participants were treated to a program featuring "Big Red the Clown," Guide Dogs of the Desert and much more. Of course, it would not have been a birthday party without cake and ice cream. We will feature a picture of our seniors who have reached that special mark in the March Herald. Christmas Music Program – "A Four Seasons Christmas" We didn't get a chance to share these photos in the January Herald so we do so now. We thank Ross Brunetto and his Vintage Voices group for their yearly treat of holiday music. We would be remiss if we did not thank Hal Townend who jumps in to "keep the Voices" on the right page. Team Sunshine looks forward to hosting this songfest next year. Kindness Award - Barbara Barnaba, Security Patrol. There is often heard the law enforcement slogan, "To protect and serve." In our Four Seasons community the slogan could be "To serve and to help in any way you can." Our January 2018 nominee is an employee of Southwest Security and she is a kind lady with many skills. Barbara Barnaba was nominated by Myrna James who writes in part that Barbara has been observed using her unique abilities to do some extra helping out around Four Seasons Hemet: 1. an emergency fix of the arm of the "back gate" 2. helping an "older" resident with heavy groceries; 3. helping a resident, who had fallen by his mailbox to safely rise and resume the use of his walker For these demonstrations of kindness and more, Team Sunshine would like to thank and acknowledge Barbara Barnaba for her service and her kindness. Closing Thoughts: "A person has three choices in life. You can swim against the tide and get exhausted, or you can tread water and let the tide sweep you away, or you can swim with the tide, and let it take you where it wants you to go." Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider, Northern Exposure, Northern Lights, 1993. Team Sunshine Christmas Music Program – "A Four Seasons Christmas"
