Each year, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce hosts the faire in May and November. Now in its 44th year, the event has grown to be so popular that it not only continually attracts people from all over Southern California, but also from other states. Some visitors even plan their vacations around the bi-annual event. "The reason so many people return to the faire every year is that they can count on finding quality items to purchase because of the wide varity of vendors, you name it and it's for sale at the faire." Just like at past faires, over 900 vendors will sell everything fathomable, including clothes, accessories, plants, household products, art, antiques and home décor. The international food court will once again feature more than 50 booths serving everything from Thai to Hawaiian cuisine. Lunch will be on-site/on own. Wed., May 16, 8 am – approx. 4 pm, $58 pp, includes lunch. Through unique exhibits and events, the Nixon Library helps visitors experience history through the eyes of Richard Nixon, and discover the influential accomplishments that continue to shape our country's future. The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum is located in Yorba Linda, California and houses Nixon Presidential Material (textual, photographs, sound and moving images), Nixon White House Tapes, Nixon pre and post presidential Materials, as well as the Museum and Birthplace. Over two years ago, on Nov. 2, 2015, the Nixon Library closed its museum galleries to the public to complete a redesign of the permanent and temporary exhibition gallery space and associated improvements at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum. As most of you know, the galleries had not been substantially updated since their initial opening in 1990. We are happy to announce the new permanent museum galleries opened to the public on Oct. 14, 2016. The redesigned permanent galleries introduce the public to an engaging display that challenge visitors' critical thinking with a historical perspective of President Nixon's public and private life. The new galleries are enhanced with exciting new interactive exhibitions and the latest in audiovisual technology. After the $15 million renovation project, the Recreation Department is excited to offer this wonderful docent led excursion. Today, lunch will be served in one of the many beautiful rooms that the Nixon Library provided for us. Food choices are listed below. You may order when you arrive for lunch at the library. Choice of: Golden baked ham on squaw bread w/Swiss cheese; Turkey avocado w/Swiss cheese; or Albacore tuna salad sandwich on butter croissant. Served with chips, cookie and water.
