| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2018 | 33 Yiddish Culture Club The Yiddish Culture Club is on the go again! Arrangements have been made for our group to be the guests of the Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino, on Wed., March 14. For two hours we will be hosted by Faheem Ahmed, president of this Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the largest in the Western United States. He will give us a brief history of this community and also provide a presentation on similar common factors between Judaism, Islam, and Christianity including Islam's basic principles of faith. Imam Irshad Malhi will then cover when, where and why the group was founded and some history of the founder. He will explain the prime motivation for followers to join this Muslim Community as well as how it may differ from other groups, branches, or communities of Islam. We have also been invited to be their guests for luncheon in their Spanish inspired Mosque. We will carpool to the Mosque. Reservations are required. Forms are available in the Main Clubhouse and must be completed and sent to Diane Stone, 1800 Litchfield Ct. by March 7. We have inquired if there were any particular protocols to be followed by our group and were told "no." This most interesting and educational experience, in lieu of our regular evening meeting, should not be missed. Paisano Club Love was definitely in the air. Our Valentine's Day party was a big success. Great food, decorations and entertainment. We will celebrate March and St. Patrick's Day with an Irish dinner - corned beef and cabbage, boiled potatoes, salad and soda bread and one of Provi's spectacular desserts with coffee and water provided on March 2. You are welcome to BYOB. As always, Jeanette and her team will decorate a spectacular room with the night's theme and Jeri always manages to hire great entertainers. Everyone can find a little Irish in themselves, so be sure to wear a little green. April will be our Spring Fling with a delicious Italian dinner. We have one change, dinners are now $16 pp. Dues remain the same at $20 pp. Checks can be mailed or dropped off at 610 Torrey Pines Road (box by front door) or given to Carol Choisnet, at the event for the next month's dinner. Please get your checks in early, as we fill up fast and can only seat 105. A reminder - guests from Sun Lakes can come one time for $20, then if they decide to join they will have to pay the membership fee of $20 and the $16 dinner fee. If you want to bring a guest not from Sun Lakes, the fee is $20. Doors open at 5:30 pm. If you need to cancel, you must do so by the Friday before our dinner to be reimbursed. Our only requirements are that you enjoy having fun and love people. You do not have to worry about where you will sit if you don't know any of our members, as we will seat you at a table with friendly people.
