| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2018 | 53
As the editor or author of our articles in the
Lifestyles magazine, many thoughts come into
my senior mind, like what the heck am I going to
say this month? So let's try something different.
I'll start by asking a question. For example, when
was the first recreational vehicle built? Like you
really want to know, right? Well, to answer my own question, the
first one, according to Google, was made for commercial use in 1910
by Los Angeles Trailer Works and Auto-Kamp Trailers. According to
the article, they did provide for the basics of home, such as a sleeping
area and the ability for 'home cooking.' However, what they didn't
provide was where we all need to go when Mother Nature calls. I
guess when you picked a spot to park your unit, you had better made
sure a tree was within walking distance.
Now I would like for you to look at the pictures above. They are
here to serve two purposes. First, they are typical of the kind of
locations where we go to hold our rallies. Second, this is where our
club is holding our next rally, the Fortuna De Oro RV Park in Yuma,
Arizona. Pretty cool, wouldn't you say? Unfortunately, as they say in
the stores, "We're all sold out." Don't be sad. We strive to have a rally
somewhere once a quarter. Our next one is tentatively set for May.
So if you have an RV and are interested in finding out more about
our club and all our wonderful members, give me a jingle at (626)
513-1601. My name is Tom Boyle. Hope to hear from you. Until next
month, have a great month and may it be full of happiness, laughter,
family and friends.
