| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2018 | 55 As I write this, the courts are still unfinished, turf to be laid tomorrow. As you read this, we should be well into the Winter Tournament, enjoying the new courts, we hope! We have 69 teams playing this winter. There are three 'byes' each week, because we have an uneven number of teams in three of the divisions. Unfortunately, we can't do anything to avoid that situation except to insist teams play on the days 'we want them to play,' to make the schedule come out even and that just doesn't work! Having said that PLEASE, PLEASE give us a second choice of days if at all possible. It would make scheduling SO much easier! Have you checked out the bulletin board lately? You will find much information on both the front AND the back of it. Also on the back of the cabinet you will find the rules as well as a calendar for all of 2018. Need a teammate's phone number, check the back of the board. Need to call a referee, look the same place. Need an alternate's number, ditto. Need to check out who's who on another team, all the teams are listed on the back of same board. Play-offs for the Winter Tournament are March 26 and 27. Sign-ups for the Spring Tournament must be in by March 30. Spring play begins the week of April 9. Questions, problems, call Dutch at 845-0392. See you on the courts! Friends of Bocce Do you enjoy playing the billiard game of 8 Ball? If you do, come join us. All Sun Lakes residents are welcome to practice with us Mondays thru Saturdays, except for Thursday which is league play. We normally draw for partners at noon, then play until 2 pm or so. There is no cost to join our group. However, if you elect to join a team, there is a $15 competition fee per three-month season. Eight teams compete every Thursday; four teams at 9am and the other four at 1pm in our Main Clubhouse Billiards Room. For a fun afternoon of friendly one-on-one competition, come watch us play.
