28 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2018 | Young at Heart The YAH Board would like to extend a big thank you to Joe Shaw and Patti Webb for hosting our NFL Playoff event. Also, a BIG thank you to all the chili and salsa chefs for their excellent entreés. Peg Laurel won best chili and Michele Walter won best salsa. March 16: Polo Under the Lights - Enjoy a Friday evening with your YAH friends watching the "Sport of Kings" at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. Imagine sitting field side, overlooking a series of immaculate polo fields surrounded by majestic mountains in the distance watching horses and riders racing the fields at speeds up to 30 mph. Admission, tailgating and parking are free. Young at Heart will get there early to reserve spots at the tailgating section. Plan on arriving at the tailgating around 4:30 or 5 pm. YAH will provide hamburgers and hot dogs to BBQ as well as furnishing all utensils and paper products. Everyone is asked to bring a side dish and BYOB and glasses. Bring chairs and blankets for seating. Dogs are welcome on a leash. Dress warmly as it may get chilly after sunset. Michele Walter (845-2002) is our contact person for this event. Please email Michele Walter at crystalwater@dc.rr.com or call her if you plan to attend, as we are not collecting money for this event. We will need a head count in order to have burgers and dogs for everyone. The entrance for Friday night matches is on Ave. 50 between Monroe St. and Madison St. April 21: Wine Tasting - By popular demand we are once again hosting a wine tasting at the North Clubhouse. There will be wonderful wines, both reds and whites to please even the choosiest wine aficionado. Delicious selected food pairings will accompany the fine wines. Cost is $22.50 pp. Doors open at 4 pm. Seating is limited so don't miss out. Michele Walter (845-2002) is the contact person for this event. Checks can be dropped off at 4713 Skyview Circle. May 5: Cinco de Mayo Golf Tournament - Dust off your golf clubs and get ready for a fun time with your YAH friends. Event begins with a 1:30 pm check in for golfers at the North Clubhouse Pro shop followed with a 2 pm shotgun start. You can pick your own foursome or take a chance and meet some new people. This is strictly a fun event. After golf there will be a dinner at the North Clubhouse for golfers and non-golfers, which will feature food from the Taco Guy (really delicious street tacos). Cost is $15 pp for golfers and includes dinner and prizes. (There is an additional fee for golf payable directly to the Pro shop if you do not have an annual golf membership.) Cost for dinner for non-golfers is $8. BYOB and glasses. Cindy Cross, 202-4399 and Kathy Weeks, (503) 522-1857 are the contacts for this event. Checks can be dropped off at 5905 Gullane Ct. If you have a handicap let them know when you sign up. "Polo Under the Lights" at the Empire Polo Club in Indio
