| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2018 | 35 "I hold a silly, naïve, or deadly serious dialogue with what is deepest inside me, which for the sake of convenience I call God. I repose in myself. And that part of myself, that deepest and richest part in which I repose, is what I call God." ~ Etty Hillesum, from An Interrupted Life and Letters from Westerbrok. (Transit camp for Jewish people on their way to Auschwitz.) Later, we read Etty's extraordinary words who saw (and I paraphrase), not that God should protect her, but that she should protect God, the God of her innermost being. Awesome words and awesome Truth! Circumstances are what they are, and they can be horrendous, but keep the lamp bright inside for God, and God will respond with the priceless gift of Joy and Peace (in the midst of barbaric chaos). She was a brilliant Light in that concentration camp (which she did not survive); everywhere helping others, keeping Bright to help others do the same. She chose to go along with her compatriots to certain death, rather than be saved (the opportunity did arise), feeling that why should she survive, while others perished? The message for us? Keep alive the God within! Do not wait for some catastrophe to know God. Satsang (Group Meeting With A Spiritual Aim) begins with a 30 min. meditation (15 min. if new people are present) followed by a discourse and a short video presentation offered by a teacher adhering to the teaching of Non-Duality. As always, questions are warmly encouraged. We meet in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room (next to the Library). Our weekly schedule is on Sundays 11:30 am to 1 pm. This is a FREE offering. My background includes 29 years of formal spiritual practice under the guidance of two masters and eight years of teaching (six at Sun Lakes). You need not bring anything except an Open Mind. My name is Gina and I can be reached at gina- sat@msn.com or 846-1220 if you have further questions. Meditation: a pathway to truth
