4 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2018 | Thank you to everyone who came to the January meeting. We had a great meeting with Annette Florez from YAPS. She was very informative and we enjoyed all the wonderful information she shared with us. We also want to welcome four new members to the group! We are still looking for more volunteers in cleaning the kennels. You would only have to clean them one day a month. If we get enough people maybe only one day every two months. So if you are interested in helping out please let me know. Susan Brown takes care of the scheduling for the kennel cleaning. She is a big help to our group. A special thank you Susan for all you do! We would like to remind everyone the Spring Craft Fair is coming up on March 10. If you have any items to donate please contact Jane Manson at 845-7833 or Helen Mattias at 797-0583. You can also contact Helen if you have any old towels, blankets and other pet items to donate to the group. We appreciate all donations. Our next meeting will be March 19 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our guest speaker will be Ellen Carr. We have had quite a few requests for a meeting about cats. This meeting will be about cats. Ellen is very informative on both cats and dogs. I'm sure it will be an interesting meeting. Hope to see you all at the March meeting. For info call Sandra Burgon, (909) 855-0226. EPAP ANIMAL RESCUE Have you lost your copy of the governing documents? Not sure if your Sun Lakes phone book set of rules reflects recent changes enacted by the Board of Directors? The CC&Rs, Bylaws, and Rules & Regulations for Sun Lakes Country Club HOA as well as the three sub- associations are available for download on the Sun Lakes Country Club HOA website: www.sunlakescc.com. If you have questions about what the governing documents allow or disallow for homeowners, residents, and guests, feel free to contact the Planning & Compliance Department by phone, email, or with an in-person visit to the Administration Office. What you think is a "silly" or "stupid" question has most likely been asked before, and we encourage you to ask your question anyway. We much prefer having conversations with residents than writing violation notices. ~ Etanisla Lopez-Ortiz, CMCA®, Planning and Compliance Department Manager Planning & Compliance: Do You Have The Governing Documents? Beautiful landscaping creates impressive curb appeal for property owners and residents. Although much of the landscape has been dormant through the winter season, grasses and trees are still very much alive and need a helping hand. Below are a few things that you can do in early spring to help create a beautiful spring landscape at your home: Lawns: The best way to control weeds is to control them before you see them. Apply a pre-emergent now, and then follow with a post-emergent application in early to mid- spring to keep dandelions and other weeds at bay. Also, applying a slow-release fertilizer will give your landscape the right amount of nutrients at the right time. Maintenance: Before new growth begins, the dead matter needs to be trimmed enabling new growth. After all dead matter has been removed from plants and flowerbeds; it is a good time to apply much to prevent weeds and keep soil moist. Planting: Spring is the best time of year for new plantings of trees, dormant grasses, flowers and shrubs. Irrigation: It's recommended to check all your sprinklers and irrigation systems for efficient usage. We hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Operations Department at (951) 769-6644. ~ Mark Schleiden, Director of Operations Spring Landscaping Tips
