| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2018 | 5 Everyone is talking about it. We will be receiving the rules and regulations, the day of reckoning is soon at hand. THERE WILL BE ENFORCEMENT OF TRAFFIC RULES, 24 HOURS A DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK. For most of the residents of Sun Lakes it does not mean anything. They go along each day, pretty much obeying the rules, living a great life here at Sun Lakes. For others it will be a constant chore to stop at stop signs and hold the speed to the posted number. After years of doing what we want, we will now be held accountable for our actions. There are a bunch of things we do that will not be tolerated. We are beginning with Sun Lakes Blvd., which is outside of our complex, because we are told it will be patrolled more often in the future. Sun Lakes Blvd. is a public street in the city of Banning. Unless your golf cart is licensed and street legal, you cannot drive on it. You cannot drive on the street or the sidewalk as many do. The only time Sun Lakes Blvd. can be used is to cross from Gate 3 to Gate 4 and vice versa. This is the only use of Sun Lakes Blvd. the city of Banning has authorized. No matter where you live in Sun Lakes, to get to the north side or south side, you must use Gate 3 or Gate 4. Unless you are licensed, you cannot go to the Albertson's market or the other shops in the strip mall. You are not allowed to go from our Main Gate to Gate 2 or to The Lakes. As we travel Sun Lakes Blvd. we constantly see golf carts running up and down the street. You cannot use Gate 5 to go to the Medical Clinic, even though you possess a Beaumont City Certificate and Tag, unless your golf cart is licensed. You exit on the Banning side of Highland Springs Road and Banning does not recognize the Beaumont Certificate. Within our complex, the constant problem of stop signs and speed are a big topic of conversation. Our bad habits have become so blatant, the Board of Directors must act to protect our residents. Our streets are clearly marked with signs and directions. Speed limits are posted often and are very visible. When the program of control will begin and how it will be applied will be made public in the near future. It is very difficult to implement a program of this nature but with the lives of our residents in danger, our Board of Directors is up to the task. Our job – OBEY THE RULES!
