"Tennis is mostly mental, you win or lose the match before you even go out there" (Venus Williams). Hmm… something to ponder… Tennis This month we are continuing the feature called "Meet the Players." Each month will feature one of the regular players. This month you will be introduced to Suzanne Moore, the 2018 POP Tennis President. Suzanne Moore was in Dallas, Texas and moved to California in 2001. She previously played a lot of tennis, but because of her work schedule she was unable to make a firm commitment to a regular tennis foursome. One of the many, many reasons she loves POP Tennis is you just show up and get to play. Suzanne believes it is a great game for hand-eye coordination, balance, agility, and reflexes. Watch her on the court and you will see how she embraces all of these characteristics along with speed and an awesome forehand and backhand. Suzanne believes POP Tennis is overall just a fun game, much like playing tennis only on a shorter court. While Suzanne was watching one of the pregame shows for the Australian Open, she perked up when they mentioned POP Tennis. It featured POP Tennis being played in a really cold climate with snow everywhere in the background. The players were outdoors in an enclosed wire cage. Players commented that since they were not able to play tennis in the winter, playing POP Tennis was the second best thing. Martina Navratilova, the commentator, believes that playing any racquet or paddle game will always improve another racquet or paddle game – tennis to POP, POP to tennis, etc. Come see what it's all about. You will be glad you did. We welcome everyone interested in the game to join us. Scheduled days of play are Tues./Thurs./Fri. from 8 to 10 am. On Sunday, the courts are open to everyone, but many POP Tennis players show up to play on Sunday at 8 am. If you have any questions about POP, please call Suzanne Moore (951) 205-9588 or come visit the courts outside the Main Clubhouse. Table Tennis/Ping Pong Good exercise! A fun activity! Great people! That's what you'll find with us. Haven't played since you were a kid? Doesn't matter… we have players of all skill levels. We play Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 4 to 6 pm, and Sat., 10 am to 12 noon in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom (normally). See the Events Board across from the Main Clubhouse Reception Desk for more information. You can also check on- line at www.sunlakescc.com and click on "Recreation" then click on "Classes," and finally click on "Table Tennis Group." Laced tennis shoes required — no exceptions!
