48 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2018 Billiards for Fun On Feb. 12, the Billiards for Fun Group was challenged to a tournament by the Curly Cues. Okay, so in the past the Billiards group was given several handicaps, so the Curly Cues won the two prior tournaments. However, this time there were no handicaps - which makes it open season for the BFFG members to exercise their amazing skills. However, since this article is due before the tournament takes place, the results will have to be announced in April. Sorry! On Feb. 20, the BFFG also held their first in-house tournament of the year. As usual, it was an amazing display of talent and expertise among the players, and, uh… oh, yes, the winners will be announced in April as well. Sorry again. Although many of our members were out due to the flu, the Billiards for Fun Group members kept honing their skills as they play against each other every week. Each Tuesday at 11 am to 1 pm or 1 to 3 pm; also there is an open-to-the-community practice session on Saturdays in the same time slots. C'mon out and have some fun with that dusty pool stick of yours! (If you don't have one, there are plenty to choose from in the Billiards Room - but they're not dusty.) This is a really fun group of men and women who enjoy the game. Come join us. ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine It's amusing how our double elimination in-house tournaments work out sometimes. During our 8-Ball tournament, Kenny Payne and Larry Rice were first up to play each other. Larry won that game and Larry went on undefeated in a field of nine players into the final match. Meanwhile Kenny dropped into the losers bracket and proceeded to win the next five games to meet Larry in that final match. According to the rules of "Double Elimination" Larry only had to win one game to become champion, which he did; but great exhibition of talent by Kenny Payne in his attempt at the title. Congratulations to Larry Rice, 8-Ball Champ! 9-Ball this month produced a field of 12 players vying for the monthly title. Once again this month Kenny Payne had to fight back from the loser's bracket winning five games in a row to face Leo Babin in the finals. Kenny tied with Leo with one loss each after winning game one then proceeded to take the second game as well, clinching the 9-Ball Champion Title this month. Congratulations Kenny!
