FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2018 55 Tennis Club March is going to be a great month for tennis. In nearby Indian Wells, the BNP Paribas Open Tennis Tournament will be held between March 5 and March 18, the date of the Finals. The first two days, March 5 and 6, are for qualifying and practice with free admission for fans. This is a special opportunity to see the best tennis players in the world close up, before they work their way to the huge stadium courts. After you have spent a couple of days watching the best tennis players in the world, you may be ready to participate, or spectate, for the best senior tennis players in the San Gorgonio Pass. On March 10, the Tennis Club will be hosting the first ever Social Inter-Club Tennis Event involving Four Seasons Beaumont and Sun Lakes Tennis Club players. There will be Mixed Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Men's Doubles matches. While the goal is to have fun and meet other players, the participants will be playing hard to see which club will prevail as the champions of the South Highland Springs Region. If you didn't lose your shirt betting on the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl, and still want to make a (legal) wager, just between you and me, based on past performances, Sun Lakes would be considered the favorite. But the Las Vegas casinos haven't posted their betting odds yet, so you can wager with your heart and pull for Four Seasons. (Legal compliance note: this article may include satire and is not promoting illegal gambling. If you think that you may be a problem gambler, get some help.) Nevertheless, we will be proud to share the awesome Tennis Complex at The Courts with our neighbors from the east. Players must register to participate by March 1 to allow time for organizing the teams. Naturally, we're gonna eat, too. For players, their guests, and tournament viewers, BBQ burgers and wiener lunches will be available for the very modest fee of $5 per person, while supplies last. The Tennis Club is pleased to welcome our new members: Sheryl Beckman, Gary Byrd, Alex Castanon, Glenn King, and Sheila Lam. Also, we welcome back Jocelyn Green, who will probably smack me for mentioning her. ~ Steve Hovey THE COURTS
