50 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2018 It's April and the outdoor pool is heated and ready for use. I don't know if that scares anyone else but it does me (really Cheryl you need to get over it). I do have my TOPS meeting and support group that will make it easier to deal with this year. We have a great group of encouragers and get a lot of inspiration from all those who have been successful on this, often difficult journey. In the month of February our biggest losers were Marty Bauer who lost 4.2 pounds and two runners up, Jardane Castles and Patricia Pendergraph, who both lost 2.8 pounds. We also had many interesting topics during the month including getting 10,000 steps and why this should or should not be our goal. Relaxation techniques reduce stress, one of the reasons that some of us eat. There is also a group challenge to lose five pounds by June. TOPS is also very affordable with a yearly membership fee of $32, which includes a magazine with a lot of great information which we receive bi-monthly. Chapter dues are $3 per month. We meet at the Lodge on Tuesday mornings with weigh-in from 8 to 8:30 am and the meeting 8:30 to 9:30 am. You may attend one meeting with no obligation. You really need to come and see what we are about. Look at it this way: You have nothing to lose but weight and you may gain better health along the way. For more information please contact our chapter leader, Cathy Calhoun at (951) 849-2614 or Rosalee Strong, TOPS Area Captain at (951) 845-9313. ~ Cheryl Burke TOPS Wheelbarrow Group The Wheelbarrow Group meets Wednesdays at 5 pm (October through March), 6 pm the rest of the year at The Summit. We have warm up exercises, timed races, tournaments and, of course, pot lucks. Our winners for the March 14 five mile tournament were Delilah and Hedley Lamarr. There was a brief controversy at the finish line as another set of competitors accused them of using performing enhancing drugs, but it turns out they were both just drunk on rum, which is a legal, and often encouraged, substance in the sport of wheelbarrowing. For those of you who don't like to compete and just want to enjoy the fresh air and fun of wheelbarrowing, we have a more casual subgroup called "Wheelbarrowing for Fun" and they meet on Tuesdays at 5 pm. Bikinis/speedos are mandatory uniforms for this group. If you would like to participate, find a partner and join us! ~ Cleavon Little
