It's been a very dry winter and, yes, we need the rain! However, we are making the most of it by taking some incredible winter weekly rides that are usually reserved for the warmer spring and summer months. This includes recent day trips to Big Bear and San Clemente, among others. And speaking of spring and summer, we have some great multi-day rides in the works. Our week-long ride to Utah is on schedule for May and we are in the planning stages for a two-day trip to Solvang in July. And, of course, it's never too early to be planning trips for next fall. Plans are well underway for a four-day run to Laughlin in November in addition to a two-day run to Jacumba (east of San Diego near the Mexican border) that is still in the planning stages. 2018 is really shaping up to be a good year for the club. We are very pleased to welcome four new members: David Burchartz has been joining us on our weekly rides on his sweet BMW K1200; Scott Snyder is also one of our new members and a regular weekly rider on his beautiful Victory Vision; Mark Snyder joined us recently on our Big Bear ride on his Honda Gold Wing and our newest member is Bill Steele on his new shiny blue Harley Davidson Low Rider. Welcome aboard gentlemen! Also, congratulations to Paul Bricker and Howard Lyon (both are past-presidents and long-time members of the Four Seasons MC). Paul and Howard recently attended the Southern California Motorcycle Association Awards Banquet. Both qualified for awards. Paul was recognized for completing the "California Adventure Tour" that requires visiting twenty-four national parks and monuments in California. He did all this on his Harley Davidson Street Glide. Howard was recognized for completing the "Three Flags Classic" that requires riding from Canada to Mexico in four days. Howard accomplished this on his BMW K1600GTL. Well done! We ride every Thursday (weather permitting). We meet at the Lodge parking lot around 8:45 am for a briefing and we are on the road promptly at 9 am. These are generally around 150 to 200 mile rides including a casual lunch. It all makes for a fun time spent with friends sharing a love of motorcycles; we are usually back home by mid-afternoon. If you would like to know more about our group, a great way to do this is by joining us on one of our Thursday rides. If you have any questions, please feel free to call our club president, Terry Humble, at (951) 381-1354. ~ Jim Ayala Motorcycle Club 58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2018 Members relaxing after arriving in San Clemente, enjoying lunch at the San Clemente pier. The whole crew enjoyed the Oakmont Trail in Redlands Our February hike consisted of a three-mile R.T., dirt trail with moderate elevation gain at Oakmont Trail in Redlands. The hike was led by Bev and Walt Webster. A very light sprinkling of rain added to the enjoyment of the walk and we found time to stop occasionally and enjoy the beautiful views. Oakmont Trail is a two to three mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Redlands, that offers scenic views. The trail is rated as moderate and primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and horses. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Hungry after our hike, the group drove to George's Market in Calimesa. George's Market features an absolutely authentic German deli and the food was delicious. Good food, good friends and good conversations added up to a terrific hiking experience.
