FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2018 17 How many of you are using our Four Seasons website to find information? Our new and improved website is now officially in use and the Communications Committee members are excited to share with our residents how to make the best use of our site. The biggest advantage to using the website is that we can make changes, keep it up-to- date and, along with your help, keep it as current as possible. Also, we can maintain all of our information, past and current, in one place. We realize there are many levels of experience with using technology among our friends and neighbors, and I would love to bring everyone on board in knowing how to use this valuable resource. I'm writing a series of "How to…" articles that will meet the needs of our community. We had a great turn- out at the Website Orientation meeting on Jan. 24, and we learned that it would be beneficial to provide more training on an ongoing basis in order to make the most of this service. Let's get started! First, our new website design is now "adaptive" so you can use it on computers, tablets and cell phones. (Note: On a small screen, the menu looks like a "hamburger," or three parallel lines.) Whichever device you are using, you will need to open a browser, such as Google Chrome, Safari or whatever you use to go to the Internet. Type into the search bar at the top: fourseasonsbeaumont.org with no spaces, exactly as you see it here. If you were given a user name and password, but have forgotten it, you may contact Nelly at the FirstService Residential management office, and she can help you. If you never have logged in before, you may click on the Register button at the top of the home page. When you click on Register, you will be taken to a website application form. By logging on with your user name and password, you will be able to access the residents only areas of our website. Now, you should be looking at the Welcome page, sometimes called the "landing page." You will see scrolling photos of our facilities. In the blue bar above the photos, you should see the word Welcome and then six words with small arrows after them. These are menus. When you click on or touch a menu, such as: General, Contacts, Businesses, FAQs, Calendars, or HOA; a list of choices will drop down (if you are using a cell phone, you will need to click on the hamburger (three line icon) to view the menus as a list). At this election time, you will see a special menu "2018 Election." During the Board of Directors election season, this link will give you updates on all election-related material. Click on this link and you will be taken to a page with dates, daily updated tracking, and past Meet the Candidate videos. At any time to get back to the landing page, just click on the Welcome link. On the Welcome, or landing page, you will find some "quick links" just below the scrolling photos. The most popular links are here: Area Contacts, Smitty's Bistro, and Movie Schedule. In the Welcome to Four Seasons at Beaumont! narrative below you will see some words underlined and colored blue. You can try clicking on any of these and see where they take you. Remember, you can't get lost; just click on your back button to get back to the Welcome page. Let's practice! Say you want to find the phone number to the Lodge. This is a very important number so you will find it by clicking Area Contacts on the Welcome page, then scrolling down to the listings under "F" to find the Four Seasons important phone numbers. And, if you are using your cell phone to do this practice, you can click on the blue phone number and it will dial it for you! (Just tell them you are practicing using the new website). Another important section on the Welcome landing page is the box with three dark blue bars. The top bar has the Daily Report | Breaking News. Click on this bar and you will find the latest information from the recent Board of Directors meeting, how to subscribe to the Daily Report in your email, and important deadlines and notices. The next bar is Upcoming Events. Do you want to know when the next Karaoke night is? You'll find it on this list. And for more detail, click on View All Events. The third button is Weather. Oh my gosh! Is it really 73.9 degrees right now? And you can click on the Additional Information link and it will take you to Weather Underground for the current conditions in Beaumont. There is so much information on our Four Seasons community website that we have barely scratched the surface! And the more you try out the links, the easier it will be to navigate. Don't be afraid to explore and see what you can find. Next time, we will explore the other drop- down menus on the site, as well as how clubs and groups can use the website to update their information. I hope you found this article helpful. Please let me know if there are any requests for future articles covering specific questions you may have. Enjoy! ~ Sandra Butler-Roberts Welcome to FourSeasonsBeaumont.org
