48 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2018 | Hello all you wonderful Lifestyles readers. I hope you are having a good month. For this month's article, I thought I would give you a break from my way of "talking" and let you hear from our President, Ken Hurley. So as they use to say on the Johnny Carson show, "Here's Ken." "Hi everyone… as you have been told, my name is Ken, and I am the current President of the Sun Lakes R.V. Club. I have been a member for the past seven years. The club plans three to four rallies a year. Each rally is coordinated by a committee of club members. They arrange for a destination and plan all the activities, games, meals, golfing and tours. With all these plans made, all a member has to do is to hook up their rig, drive to the resort and enjoy the week since everything is already planned out. The rallies give one the opportunity to visit places one might not travel to by themselves. The resorts cater to the R.V. clubs with some nice camping discounts. There are breakfasts, lunches, pot luck dinners, happy hours, BBQs and awards dinners that are always lots of laughs and good fun. As I thought about this article it allowed me to reflect back on some of the past locations our club has traveled to: • Lake Havasu, AZ: Where we enjoyed the London Bridge, Rotary Park, and a fun boat tour. • Glendale and Goodyear, AZ: Spring training for MLB and the Cactus League, as well as watching the Dodgers and Angels play baseball. • Chula Vista, CA: To explore the city of San Diego, USS Midway, Hotel Coronado, Balboa Park and Old Town. • Valley, CA: For Wine Country tours and lots of shopping. • Valencia, CA: To visit the Nethercutt Museum with over 250 restored world class automobiles, music rooms and fine art. If you ever wondered where all those unbelievable cars come from when you view the Rose Parade from Pasadena, they are on loan from the Nethercutt Museum. In fact, I have included photos of just three of their beautiful cars. • Ruidoso, NM: Land of Billy the Kid, Lincoln, Fort Stanton, and the Wild West, a great trip. So if you own a R.V. and you want to travel to some fun destinations, make new friends and just enjoy the outdoors with some fun people, this is the club for you." Thank you Mr. President Ken. Just one more item then I'm done for this month. We are planning a rally to the Chula Vista RV Resort from May 20 to 25, 2018. So if you are interested, please contact Barbara Reed at 769-3733. The cut off-date for having your registration form in is April 1. RV Club
