50 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2018 | Tom Reynolds will be speaking this month on Plant A Row. Tom has lived in Sun Lakes for seven years. He belongs to the Plant A Row Program, which is part of the Garden Club. The main focus is on growing onions. Once they are harvested, the bulk of them are given to various charities in our area. Some onions are also sold at our meetings to Garden Club members. Tom has been gardening for 40 years and learned his skills from other people. Prior to living in Sun Lakes, he grew sweet corn and melons in a raised Dough Boy swimming pool. That must have been a sight to see. Tom currently works part time at Home Depot. He loves helping people with questions regarding plants. He is a good resource for all of us here in Sun Lakes. Thank you Tom for taking the time to speak to the Garden Club members. Please make a note that this month our meeting is the third Wednesday of the month on April 18. The Spring Luncheon is Wed., May 9 and the theme will be "Plant A Hat." Members are encouraged to enter the hat contest, decorated anyway you choose. A fashion show will be held. Men's fashions will be by Tommy Bahama and women's fashions will be RV Casuals. The menu will be pecan chicken salad, rolls, and dessert of ice cream and cookies. Tickets are $18 and are available now. NEW MEMBERS are always welcome. Come and join us, you don't have to be a gardener to enjoy our speakers. Membership chairs Suzi Messick - 769-7945 and LaNelle Neet-769-7947.
