Info., Bruno, 797-0357. This month we are continuing the feature called "Meet the Players." Each month will feature one of the regular players who only lives/plays during the winter months in Sun Lakes. This month you will be introduced to Helen Pepper. Venturing down from Kent, Washington, Helen and her husband, David, bought their home in Sun Lakes in 2011. Helen would come down from Kent and work on the fixer upper home two or three times a year. Yes, Helen is quite the experienced carpenter and overall contractor with multiple skills. In 2016, husband David was finally able to spend the entire winter in Sun Lakes. They now split their time between Sun Lakes in the winter and Vancouver, WA in the summer to be near their family. Helen has always played sports, but finally gave up playing soccer when she turned age 65. Pop Tennis seemed like a fun sport to try. She found it a great way to get exercise and meet new people while learning a new sport. She found that everyone was wonderful at helping and not judgmental about new or returning players. She just wishes she could find a place to play POP Tennis in Vancouver, WA in order to keep up her skills. But do not let her part-time status here in Sun Lakes fool you. She always seems to be able to pick up right where she left off with her skills. In addition, Helen is part of the POP Tennis Social Committee providing assistance during her time here. So it does not matter if you live here full-time or part-time, you can still come out and enjoy our sport. We welcome everyone interested in the game to join us. Scheduled days of play are Tues./Thurs./Fri. from 8 to 10 am. On Sundays, the courts are open to everyone, but many POP Tennis players show up to play at 8 am. If you have any questions about POP, please call Suzanne Moore 205-9588 or come visit the courts outside the Main Clubhouse.
