Not all Sunshiners were able to make the photo shoot (above) but we did manage to get a great picture of part of our team! Team Sunshine is an all-volunteer group. Our single task is serving the Four Seasons community. We are privileged and proud to be of service to those in need of assistance. If you have questions about how we support this community, please contact our two co-chairs, Margie Culton and/ or Brenda Beers. We want you to know us better. Thank you. "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Programs: Our April program (Wed., April 18 – 3 to 4 pm in the Ballroom) slates a special speaker, the Mayor of Hemet, Michael Perciful. Please come join us for some informative dialogue on the status of our city with a question and answer session to follow. Please mark your calendar for the Health Fair to be held on Thurs., May 17 in the Ballroom from 10 am to 1 pm. We do not, at this time, have a list of screenings but will provide that information when it is available. Please plan to join us. March Kindness Award: Roy Brennon (left) has stepped up with an act of kindness that Team Sunshine is happy to recognize; although he would be the first to protest that it was "ah, part of his job." Not so, in his flurry of activity to finish the new storage building project, Roy Brennon took the time to repair several walkers which needed some attention. He didn't have to do this. He picked them up, took them home and placed them in the new storage building after repairs were completed. Thank you, Roy Brennon, for making that special effort so that someone in the community could have a safe conveyance. Celebrations of Life: We learned of the passing of Robert Mercer. We understand that there was a service at Rose Hills on February 13th. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Mercer Family. A Celebration of Life was held on March 5 for Robert Phillips. The Phillips family gathered with many friends to honor this special man. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to this wonderful family at a very difficult time. We have recently learned of the passing of long-time resident, John Torres. John passed away on March 5. A celebration of life is being held on May 5 at 10:30 am in Corona at St. John's Episcopal Church. We wrap our arms around Bonnie and her family who have lost the dear patriarch of their family. There may be others in the community who are mourning the loss of a loved one. We extend our condolences to these families as well. Some Team Sunshine Stats for 2017: Homes Visited by Newcomer Team – 58; Cards Sent by Card Team – 200+; Phone Calls by Phone Team – 800 (some calls made multiple times); Medical equipment delivery – 75+ (walkers, wheelchairs, commodes, etc.); Celebrations and Memorials – 20+; Programs – includes health fair, marketplace, hosting Christmas program and monthly programs during the year. Service Information: Please fill out a *NEEDS* Form at the Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who has recently lost a loved one. This form can also be used for various kinds of needs assistance. In case you prefer not to call but would like us to know of a need, this form will record your concern and will be passed on to the appropriate Team Sunshiner. Medical Equipment: We do have medical equipment that we deliver and pick up from residents. We do, however, stress that the return of medical equipment to the lodge be discontinued. If you have medical equipment that needs to be returned, please call Jeanne Lincoln (765-7112) and she will advise you of the proper disposition. Many thanks for your cooperation. Closing Thoughts: Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. ~ Albert Einstein Team Sunshine 20 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2018 |
