There is magic in some places. You can feel it in the air! And seldom is it more prominent than this time of the year. Spring is that special time of the year when nature renews itself and everything abounds in freshness. It is indeed a magical time. We are so fortunate to be spending our so called "golden years" in this oasis of beauty and abundant activities in which we can indulge with our friends. It is sometimes beneficial to reflect on all that has transpired since we moved here. Some may be relatively new to Four Seasons, while others may have been among those who arrived shortly after home sales initiated. Regardless of your tenure here, no doubt you have noticed our community evolve. As our beloved former Board President, Hal Townend, often reminded us… we are a work in progress. Our physical surroundings have evolved with maturing of trees, enhancements of landscaping, construction of new facilities and the ongoing maintenance of existing. Policies and procedures have been modified, rules and regulations tweaked, and architectural standards have also adapted to evolving technology. Most recently, we have been undergoing transition to new gate access devices. So, even though we may consider ourselves "seniors," we do a pretty darn good job keeping up with and adapting to changes. One of the key ingredients to our success is all of the great work performed by our community volunteers. We are so blessed to have a plethora of diversely talented people in our midst who are willing to share their skills and expertise by serving on our various committees. They reap the fruits of their labor by all of us acknowledging and being appreciative of their efforts. Our volunteers are indeed the engine that propels our community, while we as your Board of Directors merely help to steer. In last month's message, we shared a definition of leadership as "a process of social influence which maximizes the efforts of others toward the achievement of a goal." We offer our Four Seasons at Hemet Community as an example of that concept. So, that is why our upcoming Annual Membership Meeting is so critical. It will be held on Wednesday, April 25th. This year, there were four seats up for election to the Board of Directors and each position is a two-year term. As of the deadline to submit applications, there were only four submitted…all incumbents; Gene Hikel, Tony Criscenti, Ken Pounders and Greg Rockvam. This means that there will be no reason to hold a "meet the candidates" event. Nevertheless, we must still complete the election process! It is imperative that you VOTE by casting your ballot no later than April 25th so that our election process can be completed and certified. You should have already received your Annual Membership Meeting Notice with ballots, and this is your opportunity to directly participate in the governance of your community. To satisfy quorum requirements, we must receive a minimum of 50% +1 ballots (which equates to 554 ballots). Should we fail to achieve a quorum of ballots, the Annual Membership Meeting will be adjourned and the election process will be continued until the required quorum is met. Conducting our election is costly, and having to continue the process results in additional costs to our HOA. We want to thank you for your contributions to our community, regardless of how you may choose to participate. We thank you for taking the time to read our message each month, and hope that you read the entire Hemet Herald magazine cover to cover! There is a wealth of information shared each month, and reading the Hemet Herald is probably the best way to stay informed. Enjoy, and we'll see you around the campus! | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2018 | 3 Message From the Board of Directors On behalf of your Board of Directors, Jim Hatcher, Ken Pounders, Tony Criscenti, Gene Hikel, Jim Crase, and Greg Rockvam, Russ Brown President
