44 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2018 The Book Club selection for May is Camino Island by John Grisham. Here is a summary provided by the publisher: "A gang of thieves stage a daring heist from a secure vault deep below Princeton University's Firestone Library. Their loot is priceless, but Princeton has insured it for twenty-five million dollars. "Bruce Cable owns a popular bookstore in the sleepy resort town of Santa Rosa on Camino Island in Florida. He makes his real money, though, as a prominent dealer in rare books. Very few people know that he occasionally dabbles in the black market of stolen books and manuscripts. "Mercer Mann is a young novelist with a severe case of writer's block who has recently been laid off from her teaching position. She is approached by an elegant, mysterious woman working for an even more mysterious company. A generous offer of money convinces Mercer to go undercover and infiltrate Bruce Cable's circle of literary friends, ideally getting close enough to him to learn his secrets. "But eventually Mercer learns far too much, and there's trouble in paradise as only John Grisham can deliver it." Please join us at the Lodge when we discuss this book at 9:30 am on Tuesday, May 8. Everyone is welcome. June's selection will be The Leisure Seeker by Michael Zardoorian. ~ Ginger Bryan Book Club Summer is coming at last No more time for me to fast I'll be baking on a remote shore Where I just don't care anymore! Do you write little nuggets like this ode to summer? Are you the person who writes love letters with pen and paper? What have you written on the back of the Walmart receipt? If any of these examples (or others not wherein) sound like you, then the Writer's Club is where you need to be. Members of the club have one thing in common: the desire to write. While it's true that some have published, it's also true that every writer struggles with writer's block, anxiety, procrastination and other undiagnosed maladies. Three new members joined the club at the March meeting infusing fresh ideas, creativity and enthusiasm to the group. One of the suggestions was to explore adding an evening meeting with a specific topic relevant to the writing process. Many other ideas and suggestions were generated by the group. Why don't you join us? We're struggling writers who would benefit from your attendance. ~ Karla Noonan Writer's Club The Four Seasons Rainbow Group is an informal opportunity for our LGBT neighbors and any other residents who are interested in meeting with us, to keep up to date, meet new members and to have a relaxing dinner together. We meet every month on the fourth Thursday - our next meeting will be on Thursday, May 24 at 6 pm. We gather at the atrium in the Lodge, order any Smitty's food items that we want and then move to the Lodge Card Room. Feel free to bring your own adult beverage, if you desire, and appropriate glassware. Everyone is welcome. Any questions can be directed to Dale at (951) 797-0364. ~ Dale Beckes Rainbow Group
