FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2018 47 Kiwanis Club of Beaumont On April 21 the Beaumont Recreation and Park District held its annual fishing derby at the ponds in Cherry Valley. We had several members giving out fishing bait to the kids and helping them fish, if they needed help. Everyone had a great time and a lot of fish made it to the frying pan. Several Beaumont High school students have applied for the Kiwanis Scholarships. All scholarship applications will be reviewed by the Kiwanis Scholarship Committee. The scholarships will be awarded May 17 at Beaumont High School at Senior Awards Night. We are working on our 13th Annual Cherry Fest Car & Motorcycle Show which will be held May 26 at Stewart Park at Ninth & Orange in Beaumont. The show and judging are from 10 am to 2 pm. Entry forms may be obtained online at www.beaumontcherryfestival.org, or Southern California Car Culture. The Cherry Fest Car & Motorcycle Show is one of our biggest fundraisers. Last year we had 175 cars on display and several motorcycles. We had several hundred people view the cars and motorcycles. We also have a BBQ of hot dogs and brats. We have numerous cars pre-registered as of this date. On May 31, June 1 and 3, our club will help the Cherry Festival Association at the entry gates of this year's Cherry Festival. Just a reminder to all Four Season residents, parking at the festival grounds is very limited. It is recommended to park at Walmart and take the shuttle to the Festival Grounds. You will get the 55+ senior discount and $1 off for using the shuttle. More information on the Cherry Festival is below. We are looking for new members. The more members we have, the more service we can do in the community helping the children of the world and in the community of Beaumont. The Beaumont Kiwanis Club meets in the Lodge Conference Room every Thursday except for the first Thursday of the month. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm. Many of the members come early and order at the Bistro and eat prior to the meeting. For further information, call Buzz Dopf at (909) 208-0880.
