FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2018 57 Ping Pong Although we had a smaller than normal turn out for our March tournament, those who attended had a great experience. Capturing the gold medal in men's singles was Rony Tordesillas followed by Alan Chan with the silver medal, and Lou Luna with the bronze medal. As we only had a few women participants, doubles had some mixed teams. The women definitely represented. The gold medals went to the team of Lois White and Don Fant, followed by Lian Li and Ali Syed with Silver and Jeannine Baker and Barry Pope with Bronze. Congratulations to all our winners. Our next tournament promises to be a big one. We will be going back to the old format of mixed doubles. The tournament will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 2 pm. After the tournament we will feast! Pizza and chicken will be provided, courtesy of our recycling program, and we ask that you sign up to bring a side dish or dessert. Sign-up sheets will be in The Courts Multipurpose Room and on a clipboard in the Lodge adjacent to the Billiards Room. As always, please bring your own beverage. With the weather turning hotter, indoor activities and air conditioned spaces are a good combination. Take advantage of both and join us at The Courts for a friendly game. ~ Tracey Laykoff Fishing Club I found out that I still have a great deal of kid in me when it comes to fishing. I went out fishing with three fishing buddies from Four Seasons and one of them was new to the sport of fishing. I told Rick that I would teach him how to fish and that we would have a great time at the lake. As soon as we got to the lake I saw people catching fish. I jumped out of my truck and started casting my line into the water. On my second cast I caught a nice size trout and I was completely focused on catching fish. I forgot all about teaching my friend Rich how to fish. Lucky for me and for Rick one of my other fishing buddies Lew set Rick up to start fishing. Rick was able to catch his first trout, no thanks to me. We were all able to catch fish that day and it was a real pleasure to be with three great fishing buddies. We went to lunch after fishing and I was feeling a little guilty that I did not spend time with Rick teaching him how to fish. I told Rick that I would have him come over to my house and I would teach him how to tie fishing knots. This time I kept my word and Rick learned how to tie knots and about what equipment to use for different kinds of fishing. I forgot how excited I get when I start catching fish. When it comes down to it I never want to get over how good it feels to catch a nice fish. We had trout for dinner that night and I think my wife was more excited than I was that I finally caught some fish for dinner. Did I ever mention that my wife loves to eat fish? Tight lines to all my fishing friends and remember to take a person fishing that has never fished before. Just remember not to get so excited that you forget to teach them how to fish. ~ Richard Carrasco Below: Doubles winners (L-R): Lian Li and Ali Syed (silver), Don Fant and Lois White (gold), Jeannine Baker and Barry Pope (bronze) Right: Singles winners (L-R): Alan Chan (silver), Rony Tordesillas (gold) and Lou Luna (bronze) Richard Carrasco, Dennis Boozer, Lou Steiner and Rick Laykoff show off a fine mess of trout from local lake Lou Steiner with couple of nice rainbows New member Rick Laykoff with his first rainbow
