Starting in June, the Recreation Department will provide three FREE evenings of wonderful music from 6 to 9 pm! We hope you join us as we dance the night away on the following Saturdays: June 30 with So Rare July 28 with Showdown Aug. 25 with Retro Blast *Please remember it is first come first served seating and no outside alcohol or food can be consumed on the veranda. 4TH OF JULY CART PARADE 2018 Join us for the annual 4th of July Golf Cart Parade. For residents who just want to watch, the carts will be turning right out of the Main Clubhouse this year, then right on Riviera, followed by a right back onto Country Club Dr, then into the Main Clubhouse parking lot. The opening ceremonies, award announcement and parade kickoff will all happen from inside the Main Clubhouse Parking Lot. For parade participants, application packets for the Golf Cart Parade and Classic Cars are available starting Friday, June 1 at the front reception desk at the Main Clubhouse. The theme for this year's celebration is "Proud to be an American". We will be offering ribbons and gift certificates to the restaurant for the following six winners: FLOAT: 1st, 2nd, 3rd Places; CART: 1st, 2nd, 3rd Places. The deadline to register your cart is Mon., July 2. By Jason Ewals Now that May is upon us, the warmer days of summer are just around the corner. The North and Main Clubhouse pools are back to a very comfortable and refreshing 86 degrees. With everyone wanting to enjoy the nice outside weather and the wonderful pools, remember to respect one another. That goes for your guests as well. Please remember that you must be with them at all times, children's hours are 10 am – 2 pm and you as the resident are responsible for the actions of your guests. Pool monitors are on duty from 9 am to 3 pm daily and will enforce all rules as written in the rules and regulations. In addition, please remember that no guests are allowed at the South Clubhouse indoor pool. Finally, please remember that the patios at the Main, South and North Clubhouses must be reserved if you would like to use them. Please make sure to call the Recreation Department to check for availability. Let's all follow the rules and have a fun and incident free summer at the fabulous pools here at Sun Lakes Country Club! FROM THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT: SUMMER POOL RULES FOR YOU & YOUR GUESTS IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO LEARN! TAKE PIANO LESSONS HERE AT SUN LAKES! If you are interested in piano lessons at the South Clubhouse please call Derry from So Cal Pianos at (760) 779-1100. HEARING AID CHECK & CLEANING Do you have hearing aids but you're not sure if they are working properly or if they need to be cleaned? Well we have a great opportunity for you. Johnsons Hearing will be on-site in the Bus Room for a two hour period once a month to check and clean your hearing aids free of charge. The dates are May 10 and June 15 from 10 am to 12 pm CHILI COOK-OFF: RESCHEDULED FOR WED., JUNE 6, FROM 4 TO 7 PM. The air around the Veranda will be filled with the delicious aroma of peppers, tomatoes, beans, meat, spices and secret ingredients during this year's Chili Cook-off. Residents, clubs and districts are challenged to find out who makes the best chili in Sun Lakes. For all who would like to participate, registration sheets can be picked up at the Main Clubhouse. The registration fee will be $5 per entry. For those who are not registering their famous chili but would like to try all the different chilis, you can purchase an unlimited tasting ticket for only $3. That's a pretty cheap and tasty lunch if you ask me. In addition, there will be a drink table to purchase your favorite beer or soda and even water to quench your thirst. This should be a terrific and very delicious event that you won't want to miss. For more information please contact the Recreation Dept.
