28 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2018 | Young at Heart Our March event at the Polo Fields in Indio was a huge success! We extend a BIG thank you to Michele and Bob Walter for hosting a most enjoyable evening. Hopefully, this event will be repeated in the future. May 5: Cinco de Mayo Golf Tournament: Dust off your golf clubs and get ready for a fun time with your YAH friends. Event begins at the North Clubhouse Pro Shop with a 12:30 pm check in for golfers, (with complimentary margaritas) followed with a 1 pm shotgun start. You can pick your own foursome or take a chance and meet some new people. This is strictly a fun event. After golf there will be a dinner at the North Clubhouse for golfers and non-golfers, which will feature delicious street tacos, your choice of beef, chicken or pork; plus rice and beans, salsa and chips. Cost is $15 pp for golfers and includes dinner and prizes. (If you do not have an annual golf membership there is an additional fee of $15 for golf payable directly to the Pro shop). If you have a handicap let them know when you sign up. June 23: Hawaiian Luau: Get ready to shake your hula hips and join YAH for our annual luau. The fun starts with pu pus (aka appetizers) on the lanai of the North Clubhouse from 5:30 to 6 pm. There will be awesome games to test your island skills with prizes as well as delicious Hawaiian Luau food. Tin Mans Heart will provide music for listening and dancing. Cost is $15 pp. BYOB and glasses. Our Big Island Wahine, Theresa Van Haren (424-215-4218) will once again host this event. Seating is limited so get your checks to Theresa at 6029 Turnberry Dr. Cut off date for this event is June 15. July 28– Del Mar Horse Races: Join your fellow YAH members for a day at the horse races in Del Mar followed with a bonfire at Moon Light Beach Park. Gather up some of your friends to car pool for the day. We are attempting to get a block of rooms reserved at Encinitas for anyone wishing to stay the night. If you are interested in staying the night, call Bob Walter at 845-2002. We will have more information on this activity in the June issue of Lifestyles.
