In 1681 King Charles ll gave his friend
William Penn a gift – the land that became
Pennsylvania. Wow! Now that's a gift. Well
this month, which celebrates Mother's Day,
you can give a special gift – a DNA kit. There
are always special prices offered during each
holiday so now is a perfect time. I have four
friends who have mothers in their 90s, still
living, who should be involved in this project.
Let's not wait until it's too late. Happy Mother's
Day to all our members, friends, and ancestors.
Here is a list of scheduled guest speakers for
four of our future meetings:
May 23 – Sara Cochran speaking on using
online resources to locate records that haven't
been digitized and are at libraries and archives.
June 27 – Jean Wilcox Hibben presenting
"Beware! The Enchanted Forest: Perils and
Pitfalls of Online Trees."
July 25 – Len Enlow speaking on
Naturalization records, requirements for our
ancestors to become a citizen and information
on Ellis Island history.
Aug. 22 – Gena Philibert Ortega – "Your
Family History Story"
The meetings are held each month in the
Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room at 1
pm. All are welcome to join. We can explain
information on the DNA process and findings.

Genealogical Society
The Creative Writers Group would like everyone who writes short stories,
poetry, mysteries, etc. to consider attending our meetings. Don't be shy.
Listen to some of the members' stories and say to yourself, "I can do that!" We
would love to have more diversity in our group. We meet on the first Monday
and third Wednesday of each month from 3 to 5 pm in the Main Clubhouse
