| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2018 | 55 Do you enjoy playing the billiard game of 8 Ball? If you do, come join us. All Sun Lakes residents are welcome to practice with us Mondays thru Saturdays, except for Thursday which is league play. We normally draw for partners at noon, then play until 2 pm or so. There is no cost to join our group. However, if you elect to join a team, there is a $15 competition fee per three-month season. Eight teams compete every Thursday; four teams at 9am and the other four at 1pm in our Main Clubhouse Billiards Room. For a fun afternoon of friendly one-on-one competition, come watch us play. For further information, please contact Barry Sorensen 402-4020 (jobear15@sbcglobal.net). We're part way through the short Spring Tournament. The week of May 21 is the final week of this tournament. Playoffs will be held May 29 and 30, which are a Tuesday and a Wednesday. May 28 is Memorial Day. Winners of the Winter Tournament B League were Joe Corbett, Keiko Fujii, subs Jim Bredemeier and Barb Semic, standing in for Pat Watson and Margaret McManus. A League winners were Dennis Barnett, David Frank, Bob Loeffert and Gary Palmer. AA League winners were Tim Donatini, Frank DiNucci, Lynn and Ed Gordon. Congrats to all! On to the Summer Tournament! We'll finally be back on the schedule that the work on our courts messed up. It's a 10 week tournament, beginning the week of June 11, ending the week of Aug. 20, with playoffs Aug. 27 and 28. Entries for this tournament must be in by Fri., June 1. As always, entries go to 1288 Pleasant Valley. Traditionally, fewer teams sign up for the Summer Tournament. 'Too hot' is the usual reason. Maybe, but we don't start playing until 5 pm and each team is on the court for roughly one hour. How hard can that be? Give it some thought. If you have questions, call Dutch, 845-0392. She may or may not have the answers, but she'll give it her best shot. See you on the courts. Friends of Bocce
