Men's Golf
Coming up soon is the Sun Lakes Charity Pro/Am tournament.
This will be in early June and is always a sell out, so get your entries
in as soon as possible. Flyers, if not already there, will be available
in the Pro Shop.
You probably have already heard, but May's Quarterly
Tournament/Meeting has been moved from the 2nd to the 9th. This
is because we will not have a quorum of officers on the 2nd, and
therefore, can not hold the meeting. This rarely happens, and the
Board apologizes if anyone is inconvenienced by the change.
This month's Etiquette Tip has to do with where you walk on the
greens. Maybe you've noticed when watching the pros how they
appear to circumnavigate the green sometimes. What they are
actually doing is making sure they do not walk in another player's
putt line while they are determining their own line of putt. They
will walk around all ball markers that have been placed on the green
by players who have marked their ball and picked it up to clean it
before they put it back in play. Their putting line extends from their
marker to about 18 to 24 inches past the hole. All the players will
avoid walking across the lines of the people playing in their group.
Sometimes you may notice how they take an awkward stance just to
tap in a very short putt. They do this to avoid walking or standing in
the other players' lines. You might even see them point to a spot and
ask a fellow competitor if that spot is ok or not where they think the
line may be just avoid stepping on their line. While it is especially
important while wearing spiked golf shoes, it's just as important if
you are wearing soft spikes or spike less golf shoes. Impressions left
in the grass can certainly affect the putt on its way to the hole.
