On Wed., June 13 at 6:30 pm we'll use this as our reason to celebrate the season by featuring a night of fun and treats galore. What could be better than an evening beginning with build your own ice cream sundaes and schmoozing with old friends, followed by our once- a-year "Getting to Know You" segment, shopping at our second silent auction, and ending with a film that will have you laughing and singing all the way home? The meeting will begin a bit earlier than usual at 6:30 pm in the South Clubhouse. There is no charge to members. Non-member guest's charge is $3. Coffee will be available and you may BYOW and glasses. Reservations are required due to limited space and may be made by filling in the return part on the flyer available in the Main Clubhouse or by calling Diane Stone at 769-0130 or emailing swmbo3@gmail. com. Our final event of the evening is the film The Outrageous Sophie Tucker, a documentary featuring Barbara Walters, Tony Bennett, Carol Channing, Michael Feinstein, Shecky Green and others. Discover the rags to riches story of Sophie Tucker, an iconic superstar, who ruled the worlds of vaudeville, Broadway, radio, television, and Hollywood throughout the 20th Century. Before Bette Midler, Mae West, Judy Garland, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Beyoncé, and Marilyn Monroe, Sophie Tucker was the first woman to infatuate audiences with a bold, bawdy, and brassy style unlike any other. This should be an evening that brings smiles to all who attend! The Friendship Club brings top notch, Broadway and Las Vegas- style shows to the Main Clubhouse stage on the second Sunday every month. The month of May is the only deviation to the schedule. Because Mother's Day comes on the second Sunday that month, the Friendship Club's May presentation is moved to one week later. This year, there will be NO SHOW in June; the Club is "dark" this month due to the activities of Charity Week. President of the Friendship Club for 2018 is Barbara Searcy; other officers and board members are: Secretary Audrey Zigler, Treasurer Stan Zigler, Membership Al Jaszcar, Program Director Susan Fitzpatrick, Historian Bernice Schoen, and Seating Director Duane Fink. Membership is $25 per year, and is open to all Sun Lakers. Monthly shows are $20 for members, and $25 for non-resident guests. It will be a super, fun-filled presentation by our wonderfully talented Follies performers. The show dates are Sept. 28, 29, and 30 — a Friday evening and Saturday and Sunday matinées. Our last show was full of laughs and this year there will be even more. America's Got Talent and so do we! See you in September.
