| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2018 | 37 Happy Father's Day to all the dads. Summer is here and once again we can enjoy the outdoors. I hope you are planning a few short trips and enjoying all life has to offer. This month, beginning on Mon., June 4, is Charity Week. I hope you can attend something. BINGO is on Tuesday at 4 pm and there are fireworks on Friday. Check your Lifestyles for the calendar of events for that fun filled week. Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., June 21 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our guest speakers this month will be Gillian Carrington and Diane Daniel from Riverside County in Home Supportive Services (IHSS). Their presentation will cover qualifying for IHSS and the services provided by this Medi-Cal based organization. ALL are welcome. Please make time to attend. We are here to support and educate you, plus entertain your loved one while you attend the meeting. Drop your loved one off in the Arts and Craft Room for an hour of live entertainment, exercise, fun and games. All of the volunteers caring for your loved one has had a family member with dementia and have experience dealing with this disease. I am so sorry to report that Fran Wilson has resigned from helping in the support group. Fran has been a valuable part of the group. In fact she is one of the original people who have been with the group when Shirley Almeida began it some seven years ago. We wish Fran well and appreciate all she did for our group. A special thank you to Ed Avina who has joined our group of volunteers who entertain our loved ones in the Arts and Craft Room. Also a special thank you and welcome to Doug Deans who is preparing to become a facilitator in our group. If you have any questions and would like to learn more about Memory Loss, we have reading material we can loan you. Call Diane, 769-0130 or Anne, 845-8700. Remember, we are here to help. Continuing with 50 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE here are numbers 16, 17, and 18 #16 Dehydration, reactions to medications and head injuries can all cause temporary dementia. This kind of dementia can be treated and often cured. #17 Many people misplace items or forget people's names. This does not mean they have Alzheimer's disease. #18 If memory loss begins to interfere with daily living, Alzheimer's could be the reason. Memory Care Group Our meetings this month are June 2 and 21 at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of each month.
