| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2018 | 3 By Sandra Moyer FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK Summer is here and Charity Week starts on June 4. It should be a fun week. I hope all find an activity in which to participate. Updates: (1.) Our new Food and Beverage Manager, Benjamin Jafari, started May 1. His expertise is in Mediterranean Cuisine. He has managed and owned restaurants in Huntington Beach, Livermore, and Pleasanton, CA. He is planning on moving to Palm Springs. If you have not had a chance to meet him, please stop by the restaurant and say hello. (2.) The Board has gone out to bid for management companies. Please be aware this process is done every three to five years and the purpose is to see what is out there and to be sure we are getting the best service for our money. This process takes six to seven months and our final decision will not be made until September or October of this year. (3.) We are working on updating our strategic plan and setting dates for our 2019 budget meetings. (4.) You should be using your ID cards in the restaurant and lounge and golf course. Since we have not started as of this writing, I am not sure if there have been any glitches. If there have been, please be patient. As we all know with technology, all does not always go as planned. George and I returned from our vacation in Hawaii the first part of May. As beautiful as Hawaii is and as much fun as we had, we were still glad to get home to our beautiful Sun Lakes. The driver who took and brought us back from LAX stated what a clean and beautiful place this was. He was impressed with the upkeep and lack of cars parked on streets and on the driveways. He stated the entrance was beautiful and serene. Quite a testimonial from someone who only saw a portion of our community. Food for thought from Hawaii: E mahalo kakou I ka mea loa'a Let us be thankful for what we have. Ke Akua pu kakou God Bless you all
