42 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2018 |
80s Plus Club
Our April gathering was at a location outside of Sun Lakes. The
group Generations that has been so very popular in our lounge began
30 some years ago with the older brother and mother and has evolved
into the two brothers and the fiancé of one. Well, our entertainment
at the 80s Club this month was the mother and hence, the first
generation of Generations. Gee Brown was absolutely marvelous
and wowed the crowd by singing golden oldies from the 50s and 60s
about loves past, present and future. The Tennessee Waltz was one of
her special songs that she shared and she took us back to this time
of first loves. The crowd shared their appreciation and even after
the dinner, Gee continued her entertainment. The group was truly
moved and vowed to come to the lounge to support Gee in joining
her sons in Generations when they were scheduled to sing in three
weeks' time in the lounge.
Our next gathering is June 9. We'd love to have you join us and
believe you'd enjoy it! You owe it to yourself to give us a try. You can
join us one time before deciding if you want to join or not. You just
need to let us know the end of the prior month.
We meet at 3 pm in the North Clubhouse. Get your reservations
in by the end of the month to Sandee at (909) 301-9044, 1469 Littler
for the following month for the necessary head count. Spouses and
caregivers are welcome to attend as well. Many members bring their
visiting children or other out of town visiting guests also. You just
need to let us know in advance for a head count for the food. For
information, call Barb at 845-7904.
The Stardust Dancers are very busy preparing
for performances for the IDS Show, The Follies,
and their own show.
So much work goes into these productions
presented by the resident dancers.
A new member of the group who will be in her
first show, is Carol Halbmaier. She can be seen in
the line-dance number.
Working hard to finish costumes for the show
is Emily Alvarez, Peggy Frederick, and Florence
Morck. This committee puts in hours of time
sewing and creating costumes for the Stardust
group. Carol Hurt designs and creates the head
pieces to match the outfit.
The group hosted a beautiful Birthday
Luncheon in the Dining Room for the Director,
Evelyn Hawkins. It was a wonderful event with lots
of fun and love. She thanks them all.
