| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2018 | 5 Summer is around the corner. The nice warm weather can be expected each and every day. It is time for light-weight clothing and sandals. It is the time of the year we are going to have more visitors. Our kids and their kids are expected most weekends to see mom and dad, grandma and grandpa. There will be friends from our old neighborhoods, or old buddies, long time friends who will be coming to see us. We have one important job to do, remind our visitors that we live in a gated community. We have some rules that we live by. All gated communities have rules to live by. Some homeowner's associations are more liberal than others. They have fewer rules than others. There are others that are stricter than Sun Lakes. You may not believe this next statement but we know it is true, "Sun Lakes Country Club is in the middle of the pack." There are clubs with more rules than we have. Here is a list of some rules that we do not have and probably will never have. Some Homeowner Associations will not allow visitors in their pools or tennis courts or other amenities unless you pay a fee. Some clubs do not allow guests to attend club activities, such as, choral performances, dances or dinners, or entertainment events. They will allow guests to play golf but the guest fee is so high no one wants to ask their friends to join them. There are others far more liberal than Sun Lakes. You will notice the pools and picnic areas trashy after the guests leave, kids are running all over the place and are not controlled. They will use bunkers on the golf course as sand boxes, or use skate boards or scooters on our streets putting themselves and others in danger. Perhaps some of our rules are border line as to being necessary, but you must admit our community is great looking and something to be proud of. We now have our I.D. cards that must be used in our restaurants, lounge and Pro Shop. If you have not signed up for your I.D. Cards or opened a new account, you cannot charge anything in these venues. If you have not registered for your cards, call the Administration Office and arrange an appointment.
