FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2018 57 Ping Pong With the hot summer months upon us, there's no better way to spend your afternoon than enjoying a friendly game of ping pong. As the months get hotter come join the fun in the air conditioned comfort of The Courts. No matter if you're new to the sport or a seasoned player, all levels are welcome. We play doubles, and sometimes singles, depending on the size of the group on any specific day. All games are played in round-robin fashion, giving you the opportunity to partner with a different player each game. Everyone is welcome to play with the group during club hours, and no tables can be reserved for individual play. Days and time are listed in the Breeze. If you wish to play outside the club hours, there are paddles and balls available on the tables. See you at The Courts. ~ Tracey Laykoff Fishing Club Happy Fourth of July to all my fishing buddies and everyone else here in America. Two months ago I went fishing with three of my fishing buddies from Four Seasons. We went to a place called Fisherman's Retreat in Beaumont. We threw out our lines and waited for the big cats to start biting. We were there for an hour and nobody got a bite. A big water truck pulled up beside us where we were fishing. Oh great! Now I was expecting to take another shower while I was soaking bait. To my surprise a guy got out of the truck and put about 500 catfish in the lake right in front of where I was fishing. In about an hour I had my five fish limit and was ready to go home to a nice catfish dinner. I could say that I was really lucky that day, but that would be a lie. I had called Fisherman's Retreat and they told me that they would be planting fish in the lake that day. I have this bad habit of calling the local lakes to see when they are putting fish in their lakes. If the fish are there you have a better chance of catching them. It all goes back to the old saying, "If the fish are there you will catch them." In summertime the local lakes will be planting catfish. In wintertime they will be planting trout. If you are going fishing around here make sure you call the lake you are planning to fish at and ask if they have planted any fish lately. The people at the lakes have always given me plenty of information about what is going on with the fishing. If you cannot catch any fish after a recent plant, this is what you do. Go with someone who knows how to catch fish. It is always more fun to go fishing with a bunch of people. You will be able to learn from each other and the more lines in the water the better the chance of catching fish. The more you fish the more you learn how to catch fish. Tight lines to all my fishing friends and remember you are never too old to go fishing with all your good buddies. (In case you are wondering what the term tight lines means, it means that you have a fish on the line and it is making your line tight.) ~ Richard Carrasco Our Savior's Lutheran — ELCA • Our Worship 8 & 10:30 am • 20 Twelve Step Groups • Kid's Nite Wed., 5:30 pm 1320 W.
