WILL YOU BE A VICTIM? Our Beaumont Police are constantly encouraging our Four Seasons Residents to take crime seriously. Crime and Four Seasons don't seem to go together in our minds, but we are not always within our gates or locked in our homes. Here are some tips so that you won't be the victim of a crime, even here. 1. Never ever leave keys in the ignition of an empty car. Of course, your car could be stolen (it has happened here) but other keys on the ring are "gold" for thieves. 2. Don't leave valuables, purse, wallet, briefcases visible in an unlocked car. These usually contain credit cards, I.D.s, keys, and money. These things are used to commit further crimes like forgery and I.D. theft. 3. Don't leave mail/documents with I.D., addresses and other personal information in your car. These can be sold and then used for I.D. theft. 4. Garage Door Opener: If stolen from your open car or used if the car is in your driveway, it can often provide access to everything in your garage, yard or even your house. LOCK YOUR CAR! 5. Finally, remember that a thief doesn't know that that bag in the back seat is full of old dirty gym clothes and he/she may break a $500 window just to grab a $15 bag. In the last few months, Neighborhood Watch has brought several speakers to its second Wednesday General Meetings. In May, Chris Harwood, from Animal Control, answered many questions and gave good information for dog owners especially. In June, Officer Chris Ramos and J. Zellweger discussed a new app for smart phones that will hold personal information about your loved ones on your phone. This includes, photos, fingerprints, medical needs etc. When someone goes missing the police need that information immediately, and with a push of a button, you can send this info to them, so they can begin their work of finding the missing person. This is important for our grandchildren, children and for us. In moments of crisis that vital information is often difficult to pull together. Look in the app store for KIDPRINT. Remember, everyone is a member of Neighborhood Watch by living in Four Seasons, but if you would like to be the Block Captain of your small area, please contact Anita Worthen at (951) 769-9858.
