Hello July! We await your surprises. It is sneaking around the corner and, of course, we think about family gatherings with fireworks, hot dogs and the hot weather. Enjoy and stay safe! Kindness Award: It seems as though kindness abounds in the most unusual circumstances. The story goes like this: A loving mother received flowers for her birthday, but had planned a trip away from this community. When she realized that the flowers would be delivered and she would not be at home, she called Team Sunshine to see if we knew of a resident who would appreciate the cheer of freshly cut flowers. Well, of course, we do! Those flowers were delivered to Bob Sullivan who has been experiencing health issues for some time. The flowers were much appreciated! This kind and gracious mother is Four Seasons resident, Cynthia Ellingworth. Thank you, Cynthia, for reaching out and sharing. Such kindness does not go unrewarded. You are our June Kindness Award recipient. Programs May 17 Health Fair Stats: In addition to the 33 Carotid Tests and 44 Cholesterol Tests, our staff of Luz Phillips, RN, Saire Gonzalez, RN, Miriam Valencia, CAN, and Maria Diaz, CAN, provided 62 Blood Pressure Tests and 44 Glucose (Sugar) Tests. June 20, 3 to 4 pm – Pat Hall presented a program, entitled "Do You Really Know Your Ancestors?" Pat explained what genealogy is and how you can get started learning about your ancestors. Her presentation was interesting and informative. Thank you, Pat. July 18, 3 to 4 pm – We are excited to have Officer Andrew Reynoso from the Hemet Police K-9 Unit with his buddy, Duke. Officer Reynoso became a K-9 Handler in March of 2017. He was matched with his perfect four-year old K-9 Partner, Duke, in August of 2017. They graduated the basic K-9 Academy at Adlerhorst International, Inc. in September of 2017. Officer Reynoso and K-9 Duke patrol the City of Hemet as their primary function, but often help surrounding communities in and around Hemet. K-9 Duke is a 75 pound Belgian Malinois. His commands are all given in the Dutch language. He was originally purchased from a vendor in the Netherlands with a title in K.N.P.V. (Royal Dutch Police Dog Certification). K-9 Duke is trained in patrol work; to include locating, controlling and apprehending criminal suspects, locating missing or lost persons, evidence location and handler protection. Activities Team: We are keeping this under wraps for now but want you to know that there is a special event planned for Oct. 30, 11 am. We PAWS now before we give it away! Mark your calendar for the first Halloween Doggie Parade. Oops – I guess we let the "dog" out of the bag" More details coming your way next month! Celebrations of Life/Memorials: Losing a loved one can be a highly charged and very traumatic time. Though coping with loss can be a deeply personal experience, reaching out and sharing can also be part of the healing process. We are here to assist in any way we can to make this journey easier. We have no recent celebrations or memorials to report this month. Although there may be loss in the community that we are unaware of. We extend our sincere condolences to these families. Team Sunshine "Needs" Information: Please fill out a *NEEDS* Form at the Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who has recently lost a loved one. This form can also be used for various kinds of needs assistance. In case you prefer not to call but would like us to know of a need, this form will record your concern and will be passed on to the appropriate Team Sunshiner. Medical Equipment: We do have donated medical equipment that we deliver and pick up from residents. Residents who request medical equipment are required to sign a waiver form. Return of medical equipment is requested by contacting Jeanne Lincoln 765-7112. Many thanks for your cooperation. Thank You! From time to time, we receive donated greeting cards as well as medical equipment. We would like to thank Mary Reynolds for her contribution of greeting cards and Gerri Sutherland for the donation of a medical cart. Thank you for thinking of us. Closing Thoughts: A sense of humor is part of the art of leadership, of getting along with people, of getting things done. Dwight D. Eisenhower, 34th president of US 1953- 1961 (1890 - 1969) "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Team Sunshine 22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | July 2018 |
