| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2018 | 43 The only club functions this month are the remaining "Summer Line Dance Sessions." They are on Mondays, July 9, 16 and 23 in the South Clubhouse from 7 to 8 pm. These sessions are for our experienced dancers so they can get a little exercise and keep up on the dances they've learned through the year. No instruction; just dancing. To all Sun Lakes residents, if you think you might have an interest in learning about the activities of the Country Western Dance Club, we will have a FREE introductory dance in August. No charge and no obligation. This introductory dance gives you an opportunity to learn about our club and its activities. We will teach two or three very basic line dances and a basic couples dance. Our introductory dance will be Thurs., Aug. 30, at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. So, come learn a dance or just come and watch if you prefer. In September we start the new season with very basic beginner line dance instruction. Line dance instruction is on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30 pm in the South Clubhouse. The first instruction is Mon., Sept. 10, and will be FREE, so come and give it a try. There is also couples dance instruction on Tuesday evenings, usually the second and fourth Tuesdays, from 7 to 8 pm in the South Clubhouse. The first instruction is Tues., Sept. 11. Again, no charge. Check the club's August and September Lifestyles article for more information. Country Western Dance Pink Ukuladies The "Pink Ukuladies" experienced a "Perfect Day" during the 2018 Annual "Inland Empire Ukulele Festival." There were one dozen groups from around the territory and we received many, many compliments for our music, our dances, our matching pink dresses, stands, notebooks and new logo. Sarah Thornberry designed our beautiful flower headpieces. Thank you, Nelly VanLommel, for providing the large and private room for dressing and our lunch together. The camaraderie of this group is wonderful. Our June 10 performance at Beaumont Elks Club was followed by a very nice brunch, in which we were included. Members of the Elks Club enjoyed our western outfits with matching pink cowgirl hats. The party was enjoyed by all. Our performance at the Follies in September will also feature western garb. Our logo and website were designed recently by our own Lily Fedotowsky, our fearless leader. We enjoy singing, playing our ukuleles, and sometimes adding a Hawaiian dance or two. We look forward to an exciting year and if you want to join us, call Lily Fedotowsky at (941) 662-0633, visit www.pinkukuladies.com or email pinkukuladies@outlook.com. Int'l Culture Club The dinner dance in July is one of the club's favorite events during the year. It is a very patriotic evening with a lot of wearing of the red, white and blue. We feature a buffet of American favorites which starts at 6:30 pm by table call. You will find honey stung fried chicken, BBQ pulled pork, fresh string beans with bacon bits, and apple pie for dessert. Your table will have a pre-set dinner salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, shredded carrots, and ranch and Italian dressings, also corn bread with butter and honey. You can sign up at the North Clubhouse on the first Thursday afternoon at 3 pm. $24 for members, $27 for non-resident guest. Try before you buy is still in effect and that is also $27. The event is on the second Thursday evening of the month. Doors open to the ballroom at 5:30 pm and music by Global Affair starts at 6 pm. If you cannot attend after signing up you can call Carol at 769-1315 for a take-out meal box. For information call Diane Hofler at 769-9308.
