big band dance THE BIG BAND DANCE CLUB PRESENTS: ���The After New Year���s Party��� will be on Jan. 12 for those of us who didn���t quite make it to midnight Dec. 31. Members $7, guests $10. Checks only please. There will be bar service and appetizers available for purchase. Come to one of Eli���s Band Night���s and you���ll be reliving your teens again. The full musical delight of it never fails to move us band lovers. country western dance stardust dancers We have been together for 12 years and currently have 32 members. Many styles of dance are taught and performed, including Broadway, precision, military, novelty jazz, modeling and jazz dance. All themed costumes are made by group members. During the year, we perform at Sun Lakes events, clubs, local activities and civic functions. A charity fashion show will be included in 2013, proceeds of which will be given to a selected charity. An annual display of the group���s repertoire will be April 21 and 22. Tickets will be $6 pp and can be purchased from any group member or in the Main Clubhouse lobby prior to the show. Other dancers and singers will be included in the show and our group will perform eight numbers. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Well, the holiday season is thankfully over, and looking back 2012, was another great year for our club. We���re now looking forward to another ���ne year in 2013. This will be our 20th year of dancing and fun ���lled times as we meet our friends and neighbors, new and old. Country Western Dance will be Fri., Jan. 11 and Fri., Jan. 25. The Friday night dances are in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom 7 - 9 pm. We do both line dances and couples dances. As a reminder, singles and couples are equally welcome at our dances. 80s plus club The Monday evening line dance classes have been very popular. We will have intermediate line dance instructions on Mon., Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28, 7 - 8:30 pm in the South Clubhouse. Couples instructions will be on Tues., Jan. 8 and 22, at the South Clubhouse, 7 - 8 pm. Looking forward, we will be teaching basic waltz steps in February. Check Lifestyles for dates. All couples should feel free to come to the waltz instructions. Remember, no charge for couples instructions. Info., Joe or Jean, 769-9148. At our last meeting, we celebrated Thanksgiving. We sure are thankful for the great talent at Sun Lakes such as the Notables, they were our special entertainment for our social. The group sang wonderful songs like ���They call the wind Mariah.��� We also enjoyed solos such as Gaylord singing ���Stardust.��� Robert did ���Shadow of your Smile,��� Jim sang ���Wonderful World��� and Jan sang ���Climb Every Mountain.��� The ladies gave a very lively ���Buttons and Bows��� and the group left us feeling patriotic with ���Star Spangled Celebrations.��� We meet the 2nd Saturday of the month at the South Clubhouse at 3 pm. This is for new students wanting to learn the beautiful and graceful dance movements of the islands. Hawaiian Dance is a wonderful, gentle form of exercise essential to maintaining muscle tone, build beautiful posture and core strength while sharpening your metal agility. As always, there is no charge for Hawaiian Dance classes��� all you need is a desire to learn, a love of music, and a smile. Info., Jackie, 845-1056. dinner dance club The wonder of the holiday season is upon us. It is such a joyous time with family and friends. We hope you will truly enjoy your time at the Dinner Dance Club with your many Sun Lakes friends and neighbors. Our ���formal��� dinner dance will be held on Sat., Dec. 22, 5:30 ��� 9:30 pm. Music by ���The Sophisticats��� will be playing 6 - 9:30 pm for your enjoyment. The menu is extra special for this particular dance and the club will pick up some of the expense for the evening. Starting with a spinach salad, members will then select their entr��e from the following choices: top sirloin, salmon or fettuccini alfredo. Our palettes will be cooled with a dessert of vanilla ice cream topped with caramel sauce. Sign ups for this dance will be Thurs., Dec. 13, at the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. We will begin drawing for table selections at 2:30 pm so come early to have your paperwork completed. If you signed up, but ���nd that you are unable to attend, please call Betty Ferber at 845-6528 before 3 pm on the day of the dance in order to make arrangements for getting your meal.
