44 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2018 | Makua Hula Dancers have been very busy entertaining for private parties, the Solera community and various Sun Lakes Clubs. We just completed our show at the South Clubhouse for Ladies Executive Golfers (LEGS). We all had a great time and Barbara did not disappoint anyone with her "hula lesson." For many years we have offered free classes; however, our group of dancers has increased. We are sorry, but our classes are now closed. If you would like to have Makua Hula dance for your club or special private party, please contact Perla Williams at 467-8339 or Olga Marquette 846-3579. Makua Hula Dinner Dance Club August is the beginning of Dinner Dance Club's fiscal year, so we hope you have renewed your membership. However, if you have forgotten to send in your membership check, it is only $45 pp or $90 per couple for the upcoming year. Your membership MUST BE RECEIVED prior to attending our wonderful Luau in August and you don't want to miss this great evening. So… if you didn't get your dues in already, please make sure you get them in prior to this month's dance. There is a box at the door at 4833 Rolling Hills for your membership checks. We invite ALL SUN LAKES RESIDENTS and guests to join us for this SPECIAL LUAU on Sat., Aug. 18. In fact the Tiki Gods absolutely request your presence. We will be dancing, dippin' and sippin' in the Main Ballroom. Hawaiian shirts are optional, but having a good time is a sure thing. Hula your dinner requests and checks over to Carla's between Aug. 1 and 9 and drop them in the box on the gate at 782 Torrey Pines Rd. Cost for non-members in only $5 pp plus the price of your chosen entreé. Make sure you print out your dinner and seating requests from our website. Dinner will begin with Hawaiian rolls and butter and cole slaw with large pineapple chunks. Entrees are as follows: 1) Mahi Mahi $23.75; 2) Chicken Teriyaki $23.50; both entrees served with rice pilaf and Asian vegetable blend. 3) Stuffed Portabello mushrooms with chef 's choice veggies $23.25. This wonderful meal will be topped off by lemon meringue pie for dessert. If you have reserved your dinner and are unable to attend, please call Carla at 797-3506 prior to 3 pm on the day of the dance, and she will arrange for you to pick up your meal to enjoy at home. Come on out and shake your "booty" to some great music on the 18th. For all you non-club members, this will be a great chance to check out this fun club. Doors open at 5:30 pm so you will have time to mingle prior to dinner at 6. In the meantime, maybe you will want to practice your "hula." See you there!
