| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2018 | 43 To all Sun Lakes Residents, if you think you have an interest in learning about the activities of the Country Western Dance Club, we will help you by having a FREE introductory dance in August. No charge and no obligation. Come and see what our club is about and if you are willing, you can learn two or three basic line dances and/or a basic couples dance. This August dance is also an opportunity for our more experienced dancers to demonstrate a few of our favorite dances, assuming we can remember them. One of the really nice features of Country Western dancing is that everyone, singles and couples, are equally welcomed to come learn a dance and have a good time. The introductory dance will be Thurs., Aug. 30, at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Mark your calendar and plan on coming. Do you have a reluctant partner? Drag them out of the house and bring them so they can meet some new friends, have a drink, and be entertained. Who knows, they might even have a good time. In September, we will start our dance instructions with ultra beginner dances. Line dance instruction begins on Mon., Sept. 10 at 7 to 8:30 pm in the South Clubhouse. Couples instruction begins Tues., Sept. 11 at 7 to 8 pm, South Clubhouse. Our first Country Western Dance this season will be different this one time. We are scheduled to be in the South Clubhouse on Fri., Sept. 28 starting at 7 pm. Always check our Lifestyles article for activities, times and places. Have questions? Call Joe or Jean at (951) 769-9148. Country Western Dance Pink Ukuladies Beginning with our first performance in January, we have participated in many venues during the past months. We are honored and look forward to participating in the Follies Show, "Sun Lakes' Got Talent," Sept. 28, 29 and 30; and will be wearing western garb. Practices begin in August and the show promises lots of laughs. We also will be performing with the Loma Linda Strummers on Hawaiian Tues., Oct. 30. We are practicing with our ukulele songs for these events coming up in the Fall. Many of our Pink Ukuladies have enjoyed vacation time during July, enabling us to re-energize for the shows ahead. We enjoy singing and playing our ukuleles. We look forward to an exciting year ahead and if you want to join us, call Lily Fedotowsky at (941) 662-0633, visit www.pinkukuladies.com or email pinkukuladies@ outlook.com. New venues are always welcome in the relaxed atmosphere of Pink Ukuladies. Int'l Culture Club The International Culture Club is going to have a Greek Night for their dinner dance in August. You will enjoy a buffet of chicken/beef kabobs, vegetarian pasta bake, rice pilaf, tzatziki sauce, a pre-set Greek dinner salad at your table (tomato, cucumbers, onions, feta, olives and Greek dressing), pita bread and a lemon bar for dessert, along with table served coffee and water. Doors to the ballroom open at 5:30 pm on the second Thursday evening in August. Music by Sophisticats starts at 6 pm, and the dinner buffet starts at 6:30 pm by table call. You can sign up for this evening of fun on the first Thursday afternoon in August at the North Clubhouse at 3 pm. It costs $24 for club members, $27 for a non-resident guest. Our try before you buy program is in effect, so any resident can sign up and attend for $27. You can call Carol Hurt at 769-1315 for a take out meal box if you need to cancel. Also, if you missed the sign up, you can still do so if you call her by the Sunday afternoon after the sign up. For information call Diane Hofler at 769-9308.
