| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2018 | 7 The EPAP Management Team is made up of eight elements, each with its own duties and responsibilities. The Public Information Officer is Linda Vieira (left). It is her responsibility to disseminate information and promote an awareness of EPAP throughout Sun Lakes. She will also respond to news media, government and other agencies' requests for information following the occurrence of a catastrophic event. The Communications Unit is headed by Dick Heitman. His unit is responsible for all Emergency Communications equipment in the EPAP Operations Center (EOC). The unit is responsible for internal communications between the EOC and individual Districts. It also provides a link between Sun Lakes and local emergency services. The Director of the unit supervises and supports the Amateur Radio Team, made up of HAM radio operators, used to support EPAP's internal and external communication. The Medical Unit is headed by Pat Bowen. Her unit is responsible for on-site medical resources, including a roster of volunteer personnel, complete with qualifications and availability. It monitors on-site medical supplies and maintains first aid materials at the District and community levels. It also provides supervision, training, and support for medical personnel. The EPAP Patrol Unit is headed by Ken Hurley. The unit assists in providing security and assistance to various elements of the emergency organization. This unit is comprised of persons who have public safety experience; however, non-safety volunteers will also be included. The Information Management Unit is headed by Linda Stone. It is the record-keeping unit for Sun Lakes, maintaining a database for each District, with names, addresses and other information given by residents for EPAP's use. The Coordination Unit headed by Carole Rhine, is responsible for managing EOC event messages and internal operations. The Animal Rescue Group is led by Willie Olmstead. It is responsible for the collection, kenneling and care of unattended domestic animals. There are about 100 volunteers in this unit, and they work all year long, as well as during emergency situations. The RV Group is sponsored by the Sun Lakes RV Club, which will organize a volunteer group of their membership to provide emergency assistance following the occurrence of a catastrophic event. They will appoint a group leader to help plan post-event activities and maintain a current roster of participating RV owners.
