DISTRICT 22 GOLF TURKEY SHOOTOUT: NOV. 17 If you want to have lots of fun and play golf at the same time, you will not want to miss this annual event. It doesn't matter how often you play, you'll be matched with your handicap for a modified scramble. Details to follow. | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2018 | 5 Look at the calendar — do you realize it is September already? Come to think of it, we do not know if we really enjoyed summer, do we? We wake up every day expecting to enjoy what we do, with the people we know and have fun. After all, we are retired, at least most of us are, and we worked very hard all of our lives to enjoy our retirement. Hopefully we have developed good habits and have hobbies or interests that give us pleasure and we have fun doing with others or even by ourselves. Most of us have moved to Sun Lakes Country Club because our friends or relatives live here or we discovered it is a fantastic place to live out our days. It never occurred to us to get all upset because someone did something we didn't like. We might be bothered by it but to rant and rave is rather stupid. Equally, to get bent out of shape due to traffic rules or regulations being discussed is really dumb. We should find out what is actually being done rather than acting on what someone thinks is being done! If you were involved in business or had a job whereby you had to make decisions involving others, you thought long and hard before you decided what to do. You may even talk to others, listening to their ideas or ask for their help. Did you expect others to yell at you, threaten you, ask you to quit, or try to get you out of your job or get fired? We don't think so. We have had all kinds of things happen at Sun Lakes during the past 30 years, things that were earth shaking, like spending a million and a half dollars on refurbishing the North Clubhouse, spending millions of dollars on the Ballroom, building a restaurant and lounge, building another clubhouse —the South Clubhouse — which cost millions. You want something to yell about, how about those projects, and everyone wondering where the money was coming from? How about sitting back, relaxing and waiting to see what the proposals are, what the rules and regulations entail, read them yourself and make up your own mind. Don't let anyone dream up all kinds of opposition and problems and shove them down your throat. There will be plenty of time to present your concerns and ideas and then we will have consensus of our residents. The decision will be based on "what is best for our residents and community."
