FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2018 41 Let's Dance (ballroom dance) Line Dancing We have been happy to welcome some new faces to our lessons! Remember, learning to dance requires two things: an excellent instructor and a willingness to learn. We provide the first, you provide the second. We all start the same way, knowing little or nothing about dancing, and learn as we go. If we can do it, so can you. We dance at the level at which we feel comfortable. It doesn't matter if we can do all the moves or just a few. We're not trying to master every technique and style, just enjoy ourselves. Our dance for October is the Samba, also known as the Brazilian Waltz, a fun and lively dance we know you will appreciate. It is very similar to the Nightclub Two Step, and we will show you how you can use the interplay of these two dances. So, you will be getting two for the price of one! Samba is a fun and flirty dance, a dance of celebration and joy. It's surprisingly similar to the Waltz in many aspects. It is a great one to know for cruises and dinner dances. Plan to join us in The Lodge Ballroom on Monday nights. Newcomers and beginners meet from 6 to 7 pm; intermediate and advanced meet from 7 to 8 pm. The cost is $10 per person. For more information, contact Puring or Gary Stifter at (951) 922- 8333, or purings@verizon.net. ~ Sue Condurachi If you want to be more active and have fun doing it, join us on Tuesday afternoons for Country Line Dance in the Ballroom. Dancing is good for the body and the brain, and it is a lot of fun. Martha Franck volunteers her time as our leader. A weekly donation of $1 will go toward our parties and sock hops. If you have never line danced or if it has been a while and you need a refresher, a Beginner's Class is held every Tuesday at 2 pm in The Lodge Ballroom. The first class is Oct. 2. The teacher is Janine Rohrbacker. It takes about eight weeks to master the basic steps. Please plan on regularly attending, especially the first two to three weeks of the month, to learn the basic steps. Dances will be repeated each week to make sure you are ready to move on to some new dances and steps. The classes will give you a great introduction to many of the dances we do at the Sock Hops and at Karaoke. We try to dance as often as we can. The Intermediate Class starts at 3 pm. There is less step-by-step teaching, except for new dances. A quick review of the steps will be done as needed for familiar dances. The Advanced Class starts at 3:45 pm. New dances are introduced, but you need to know the basic steps well, and be an experienced dancer. Bring water and wear shoes that can slide on the wood floor… and bring your friends. ~ Cindy Schwinn for Martha Franck Line dancers in action
