56 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2018
My name is Richard Carrasco and I used to
be a tennis player. Now that I am old and no
longer in my prime, I have found a new sport
to play. Paddle tennis is now one of the sports
here at Four Seasons that I enjoy playing. I
like it so much that I taught my wife how to
play. My wife, Shao, is now a much better
player than I am. I have to tell you that she is
a lot younger than I am and has a great deal
more energy to play paddle tennis.
I never thought that I would ever find a
sport that was better than tennis. I guess now
that my body has slowed down I had to find a
sport that would not kill me, and that I could
have fun playing. Paddle tennis is now the
perfect sport for me to play.
The members who play paddle tennis are
all great people and really good players. No
matter what your skill level is, you are always
welcome to come out and give it a try. We
even have members who will work with and
teach you the game and help you to become
a great player.
The ladies who play paddle tennis are
really good players. They will compete with
the male players and are on the same skill
level. I can't tell you how many times I have
been beaten by the ladies.
Our goal in playing paddle tennis is to
have a good time and get our daily exercise.
Usually, I can play for about an hour and then
I've had enough. The really good thing about
playing paddle tennis here at Four Seasons is
that you can sit out at any time and rest. You
do not have to keep playing as in other sports.
If you want to give paddle tennis a try just
check the Breeze magazine and it will give you
the times that we play. We have two courts
and you do not have to wait long to get into
the action. Make sure you wear tennis shoes
and if you do not have a paddle tennis racket
one will be supplied. I am sure that after you
have played and learned the sport you will be
getting your own racket.
In any sport that you play, remember to be
safe. We are not as young as we use to be and
our bodies can only handle so much exercise.
