| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2018 | 3 By Sandra Moyer FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK I believe fall has arrived, cool weather, changing color of the leaves and pumpkins abound! Time to start your plans for the holidays. At the time of this writing the budget has not been finalized but we are close and should have been able to announce at our open board meeting. The final budget will be mailed to all residents on November 30th. We will have our normal meeting this month on Nov. 28 but will be dark in December. I would like to address the loss of Spectrum's landline, Internet and TV services last month. It lasted for eight hours and even if you had a cell phone, you were unable to reach anyone in the Administration office, or the front gate. Even our emergency line was inoperable. Securitas did a good job trying to deal with the situation. They used their own personal cell phones to call you ( if you have a cell # listed) if someone was trying to enter to visit you. Some residents were kind enough to drive down to the gate and give information on expected guests. As a result, the Board authorized the purchase of two cell phones. One for the Call Center and one for Patrol. When in place, we will publicize the Call Center number only. The cell phones will only be on in the event the land lines are inoperable. The second issue is the residents who do not have cell phones. If you are aware of a neighbor who may have medical issues and does not have a cell phone, please check on them and be sure all is okay. Residents in that situation may make your District Delegate or Zone Captain aware and they, with your permission, will give your name and address to EPAP. This will be another avenue for someone to check on your status. Food for thought: As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~ John F Kennedy A Thanksgiving Poem: May your stuffing be tasty, May your turkey plump. May your potatoes and gravy have nary a lump. May your yams be delicious, and your pies take the prize, and may your Thanksgiving Dinner stay off your thighs!
