4 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2018 | AGE VERIFICATION SURVEY COMPLETED! Thank you to all of the residents who filled out their age verification survey this year to help us comply with the law, and prove that over 80 percent of our residents are over the age of 55. We know this can be a tedious process, since it has to be done every two years, but we are finished for 2018! We would also like to thank the district delegates for helping us through the process. It can be a difficult task for the administration staff to reach out to each homeowner. The delegates stepped in, and in many cases went door to door, to help us reach the necessary 80 percent requirement. We couldn't have done it without you! We will see you all again in 2020. RESTAURANT, SANDWEDGE, BAR & LOUNGE CLOSURE In the Main Clubhouse kitchen, which services the Sun Lakes restaurant, the epoxy floor is in need of replacement. The Master Board and staff have discussed the scheduling of the repair, since we will have to close all restaurant facilities to complete the task. The Board and staff tried to choose a time frame in 2019 that would have the least impact on scheduled activities. No time frame was perfect due to the large amount of events going on in the community. However, it was decided that the Restaurant, Sandwedge, and Bar & Lounge will be closed Jan. 7 - 18. We reopen Sat., Jan. 19. There will be no food and beverage service provided during this time. The reason for the closure is because all of the equipment, such as grills, ovens, fryers, etc. will be disconnected and moved for the flooring to be repaired. Furthermore, for safety reasons, we do not want the staff in the kitchen when the contractors are working. During the closure, we are replacing the main bar, which is located outside the lounge area due to its deteriorating condition. The cost for the kitchen floor and main bar renovations are covered by the reserves. The Master Board will be discussing these items further, and will give their final approval in the open session board meetings in October and November. We apologize for the inconvenience this causes residents who frequent the restaurant facilities. We are not trying to burden the residents. However, due to health code standards, these are items that are necessary to complete. During the closure, we will be working with the restaurant staff. Training, cleaning, organizing will be a priority. Staff will also have the opportunity to take vacation days. Thank you, in advance, for your understanding and patience during the renovation. NEW! DISTRICT DELEGATE MEETING INFORMATION ON WEBSITE On the community website, www.sunlakescc.com, we have added a link called "District Delegate". If you hover over that link with your cursor, a list will come up that will allow you to look at the District Delegate Agendas, Minutes or District Newsletters. Happy reading! REMINDER TO ALL HOMEOWNERS Beginning in 2017, a new California Civil Code §4041 was passed which discusses the collection of member contact information for the Association. This piece of legislation requires homeowner associations to send a separate document to each homeowner (not tenants or non-owner occupants) on an annual basis, to obtain any contact information that has CHANGED for your home. This includes the following information: • The address(es) to which notices from the Association are to be delivered. • An alternate or secondary address. • The name and address of your legal representative, if any, including any person with power of attorney or other person who can be contacted in the event of the owner's extended absence from the home. • Whether your home is owner-occupied, rented, or vacant. The Association mailed this document to all homeowners in October. If you have had any of the above changes, we ask that you fill out the form and return it to the administration office no later than Fri., Nov. 16 by 5 pm. If a new form is not turned in, the Association will use the information that is currently on file. Please call the Administration Office if you have questions. Remember, it is not a requirement that you turn in this form if you don't have changes. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL The staff at Sun Lakes wishes you and your family a happy and healthy Thanksgiving! Our staff thanks you for the opportunity we have to work in such a beautiful community, with wonderful people! Each one of us love what we do, and are excited for the opportunity we have to serve you. Whether it be cooking and serving a delicious meal, hosting a sold-out event or excursion, presenting two beautifully manicured 18 hole golf courses, working through an architectural problem, signing you up for a tee time, assisting in getting an item repaired, or simply answering that burning question that has been bothering you all day. We are here to help you! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We still have open volunteer positions on the Finance Committee, the Master Architectural Committee, and the Common Area Committee. We need you! If you know someone who would be a good fit on one of these committees, please have them fill out a volunteer interest form, and turn it into the Administration Office. The volunteer forms can be found in the Main Clubhouse or in the Administration office. Volunteers will be approved by the Master Board in the November open session meeting, to begin their term in January 2019. So, get your form in today! If you have questions, please call Charlye Sessner at 951-769-6648 or call the committee chairperson to discuss committee duties.
